your house. Viyah 70 KM is all about finding such a match for Aman i.e. Harish Verma.

This film by Ohri and Batra Showbiz is an another addition to Punjabi Comedies. And just like most of them you dont have a sound story here as well. The only purpose of the movie is to make you laugh but sadly it happens very rare. The problem here is, you are making a comedy and you are keeping your ace comedian on the sideline. The performances by the starcast are average and so is the music. The only thing you enjoy in the movie is a typical Jaswinder Bhalla performance.C

Sexy Siren Sherlyn sheds her clothes again!

Blogger Kats Love Note To NYC

Oops she did it again! The sleaze queen Sherlyn Chopra knows how to grab all the attention by posting raunchy photographs on social networking sites, and sure has more followers on the social networking sites like twitter than many other celebs. Buzz is that Sherlyn showed off her wild side, yet again as she was seen wrapping her legs around a pillar in a palace with just the dupatta around her. As per sources, this sexy siren will be seen raising the heat with her bold acts in the new movie Kamasutra 3D and going by this picture, you get a fair idea about what to expect from the erotic drama. If rumours are to be believed, the leggy lass will be wearing nothing, or very little in several of the films scenes. She chooses to be in her body suit even while she is relaxing. By Kirti Rele

Kat Tanita who you may know from With Love From Kat and her appearances on the Today show is a newbie New Yorker. Only full-time in the city since 2010, her affair with NYC is still in the puppy-love stage. Still, the lessons shes learned in Big Apple fun and style are many (we mean, just

look at her). So, we reached out to this Internet star to see how shes settled in and, of course, to steal a few tips. Next thing we know, shes grabbing us by the hand, slinging her kate spade new york Beau Bag over her shoulder, and dragging us all to The Plaza and Central Park. Good times! C

Farhan inspired by Raj Kapoor?

It is a well known fact that Farhan during his college days would watch four to five movies, across various genres each day. Farhan believes that his movies showcased great stories and delivered excellent music, and loves to watch his movies and revisit the black and white era of the great actor. Akhtar has a huge collection of the veteran actors movies and the collection is a prized possession of the actor. C

Is It Selena Gomez Or Madonna?

Have we told you yet how much we love the new Selena Gomez? Oh, thats right, we have. Shes grown up into such a beautiful, classy, stylish lady that we cant help but sing her praises. If theres anyone out there whos still unsure of her total badassness, we give you this outfit. Gomez showed up outside the David Letterman studios in a completely Madge-worthy getup complete with crop top and thigh-high slits. And, in a perfectly timed #Throwback move, she accessorized her fishtail braid with an 80s-style scrunchie. We think Lady Madonna would approve. Not only does this glam look show off her dancers body, but the black-on-black ensemble is a way grownup choice for the young actress. She took her sultry look to the Late Night stage to perform Slow Down, and received rave reviews for the performance and the outfit. Were just going to say it: Selena Gomez might become one of our style icons. C

Punjabi Cinema Is Doing Wonders- BN Sharma

After entertaining the viewers through his comedy characters like Shampy Da Daddy and Inspector Sikander Singh Tiwana from blockbusters Jatt and Juliet and Carry on Jatta respectively, Veteran Actor B N Sharma is all set for his upcoming movie Marrij Da Garrij. Every director loves him for the perfection he puts in his work. The story of B N Sharma is alike the young and budding actors of Cinema. Born and brought up in Delhi, his parents wanted him to become an engineer. But his passion for theatre motivated him to leave his family behind during his Bachelors degree. He shifted to City Chandigarh at his Uncles place and did job as Police Constable for around 25 years along with acting. Was the decision to get separate from parents right and he says, I was so fascinated by acting field that I wanted to become a one at any cost. I remember when I was a kid (even before I started going school), I used to buy a flute from a balloon wala and play it. Now I realized that it was an art. As my father was quite rigid I had to take the step. And now with the hard work and love of all I am doing well. During the job as a constable Sharma did 40-45 movies.

Who introduced me with Mr. Rahulinder Singh Sidhu, CEO of RSG STUDIOS PVT. LTD. also the producer of Young Malang . He was planning To make a Punjabi movie. So after lots of meetings and long sittings, we locked the story for Young Malang and then started working on music, Star Cast and locations. Finally, On 31st march 2013 we started the shooting for Young Malang.

Life behind camera? Life behind camera is very difficult in every aspect though it is really interesting and i love being behind the camera and directing the actors and the crew. What is the most important part of film making? Though every part of film making is important in itself and has its meaning of its own but if you are asking the most crucial part that will be screenplay, because some where the stories we work on are similar with a every other stories but what makes it different is the screenplay. That how you present your story in a way that audience feels new while watching. What pushed you into

direction? When i came to Mumbai to struggle as an actor, after struggling for a while got some project signed, everything was on track, but something went wrong due to bad luck (girift of ) pneumonia and body was low due to lack of blood. And after some years i came again to become cinematographer but things didnt work properly (1 big name from Punjab in bollywood said e sikhne ki umar nahi hai...aur meine soch liya ki ab sikhunga nahi, sikhaunga. i decided to go into film direction and came back to jalandhar and started working in direction.Aur uske ek saal baad hi mai harbhajan mann ke Music video mei assistant tha aur wohi Cinematographer saab mere kaam ko dekhke bole... Rajdeep Tu Bombay aya c te mere kol aunda... mai kiha ji tuhade kol e aya c te tusi sikhanh di umar nahi kehke mera housla todeya c... What other projects have you worked on? I worked on lots of music videos as an assistant or directed. I DIRECTED in theatre for some plays, the first play was SARAH KISPE HASTI HAI. Followed by ADMI KA GOST, JALATA HUA RATH, USNU KAHI, MITTI RUDAN KARE, SUBSE UDAAS KAVITA and

What do you have to say to young People out there struggling to get into the film industry? See If you have talent than you can achieve heights, its very much easy to peruse your career in industry. Now its not like the old days that only few production are into movies, in current time you have lots of options in industry, there are serials, there are ads, new productions and many more. Lots of fields are there in industry but the problem of the youth is they wants that to come as the hero and heroins, there are lot many other fields in industry. So first get focused. Scope is good, film industry is growing in regional parts and now Punjabi films are doing well in Indian and overseas market. people are enjoying and at the same time the scope for everyone is also increasing. I will say get focused, and do right choice if you are willing to do something nice with you. Apart from Directing you also act? Any future acting plans? Yes i have acted in so many TV serials and stage plays, there are

no such plans yet but let see (ager mein acting karne laga to baakiyon ka kya hoga) hahaha.. Your take on casting coach? Does it exit in Punjabi film industry? Gandi machliyaan har taalab mein hoti hain but iska matlab ye nahi ki taalab hi ganda hai...its all up to the person how he want to go in, if you are good than everything is good. is there such a thing as real friendship in our film industry? Its all about human being, we all in film industry are human being, we are normal people as other, we have same number of parts as you all have...hahaha. No extra wing we carry as fairy. If you are human surely you have friends, if you have friends you must have relation with them, and if have relations with them than surely you have good relationship with them. Yes there is liberty in both side. There are so many examples in industry. You cannot pressurise the other because its a showbiz. Why? Have you not found any partner who has been able to give you companionship? Relations are formed in heaven, lol hahaha fact is i never bothered about this thing. when did you first start getting into films? Find the answer in 1st or 5th managed it your way what you do in your free time? Your other interest? In free time i enjoy with my friends and family Bros, Sises, nephews, nieces to whom i cannot meet during film production, works on new ideas, watching classic movies, photography, cooking, facebook. Bollywood Talk

Im really, really funny!

Nargis Fakhri
10 | CINE WORLD | October-2013 | http://cinepanjab.blogspot.com

'Gossip about me were embarrasing'

Just a film old, foreign import of Indian decent Nargis Fakhri, who stormed in Bollywood by starring opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar, stayed in news more for her personal link-ups with actors like Shahid Kapoor or Uday Chopra than her films. After nearly two years the actress has her second release Madras Caf opposite John Abraham finally making it to the theaters. We caught up with the actress during the promotions of the film to find out what went wrong: According to director Shoojit Sircar, Madras Caf is your re-launch. Comment I did have that gap between my first film to this. So it could be like a re-launch. Madras Caf is totally different, the story is intense. It is a political thriller shot in a different way. My character is totally different from that of Rockstar. Shoojit knows me and has seen that I have grown. He told me I have done a great job I appreciate his comment, it means a lot to me. Was the gap that came along intentional? Did it become frustrating with people writing negative stories in the meantime? There were so many different things were going on. I never came here to settle down, till Rockstar happened. After Rockstar I was bombarded with so many scripts but I did not feel connected to anything. I was adjusting, thinking should I move here or not. After deciding to move on out here, I had crazy number of ad films, magazine and events, so many different things that kept me busy. Then I took classes in learning Hindi, dance. I didnt know not doing films will become big. It was embarrassing when (negative things were written about me) such things were coming out. The response that I got after my first film was overwhelming. There were offers but I was waiting to get the right one. I would like to work on something that I would feel connected to, something I would like to watch as an audience, something that has a message, information, educates people. Everything (Films) is not only about fancy clothes, eye lashes, fake hair and dancing. I am not complaining as I just did an item song. But with this character that I am playing I got opportunity to show my other side. You had apparently signed Khiladi 786 opposite Akshay Kumar. Do you regret missing out on that film? There is no regret. They had a character change and things did not work out then, so it is fine. We have to work towards things to achieve something; it was not easy for me. I did learn Hindi; it took time for me to adjust and understand things. I know there were people saying I should been doing six films a year but it is taxing. And I am in no rush. It is hard to be away from family and close friends and work for so many months on a project. I give credit to women who do it as they are emotional and need comfort from family and friends.

The one thing people dont know about you? That Im really, really funny! (haha) What are you scared of? Cockroaches Whats your favourite cuisine? Are you a good cook? Its a tie between Indian and Japanese. I love cooking. I definitely cook when I have a day off. Whats your perfect man like? Theres no such thing! (laughs) But close to perfect would have to have a good sense of humour, intelligence and a passion for travelling Are you a good liar? No, unfortunately not! Whats the goofiest thing youve ever done? I usually dress up like a guy when I go out shopping, with tomboy clothes and a hat. One time, I was supposed to meet somebody I know and that person couldnt find me because I was looking like a boy!

11 | CINE WORLD | October-2013 | http://cinepanjab.blogspot.com

Were there times when you felt like packing bags and heading back home? I did feel that way many times. I learnt Kathak for three months every day for four hours, I enjoyed watching it but it is freaking hard to do it yourself. Now I can understand Hindi and that was biggest achievement for me. I want to go back home and tell people I know Hindi. Life has so much more to offer. My happiness lies in learning, exploring different things because when I am old and removing my false teeth, want to tell my grand kids I was a Bollywood star and I did learn Hindi, did an item song etc. And

whether I do less or more films doesnt matter. There are few people who are lucky to get a chance to do this. Despite not doing Khiladi 786, you are getting a chance to work with Akshay Kumar once again in Shaukeen remake It is a remake of an old classic. I havent seen the original film yet but have seen the rushes. It is going to be a modern take. I am glad about working with Akshay, who wouldnt want to work with him. He is talented and good looking. I remember watching Akshay doing a comedy film when I was in America. So there

was this sense of familiarity. All this while the negative stories were being written about you, did you feel they are taking away from your work? Stories like that make no sense. It is not true and it makes things worse. It is upsetting and unfortunate. I stopped reading newspaper. With the false reports doing the rounds I started questioning other stories in news as well be it political whether they are true or not. I started going crazy. I have learnt to understand that is the way it is. You cant stop media. You either cry over or not. C

Deepika like never before in

Ram-Leela
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, known for his larger-than-life films, exemplary sets, high-tempo emotions and most of all for the way he presents his films leading ladies promises audiences this time around, Deepika Padukone aka Leela will be seen in her best. Be it Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Guzaarish, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Devdas or Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya, Bhansali is one of Bollywoods most sought after directors, and has always presented his heroines as visual poems, unfailingly resplendent inspiring women with uncompromising individualities, remembered much after the film releases. When it came to Deepika Padukones look in RamLeela, keeping with his vision of Leela, Bhansali wanted to keep it as natural

and real as possible with minimalist make-up by Mehera Kolah and an undone light bouffant, giving her the look of a local Gujarati girl. Sanjay Leela Bhansali known to go all out on minute detailing, aimed at extracting the best of Gujarat in Deepikas costumes and personally traveled to the interiors of Gujarat on the outskirts of Bhuj to purchase the material that went into Deepikas clothing designed by Anju Modi. If that wasnt all, the materials used as part of her wardrobe for the film date to over a 100 years old in spite of it

being a contemporary film based in real time, since the maverick director needed it to be as traditional and real as possible. Talking about his films Leela says Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Leela is like my mother beautiful, graceful but teekhi ! She is color, She is fire, I wanted Deepika to be that. The leggy lass Deepika also states that, Sanjay sir is known for the way he presents his heroines. Eros International & Sanjay Leela Bhansalis Ram-Leela starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh is scheduled to release November 15th 2013. C

Diablo Cody - Director of Paradise

Hollywood Director

Diablo Codys directorial debut, Paradise, is out on October 18th, 2013 in Los Angeles and New York theaters. The story about a young Mormon girl named Lamb who survives a horrific plane crash and loses her faith in God is getting mixed reviews, even from Cody herself, and is a definite departure from her snarkier and less sympathetic characters in Jennifers Body or Young Adult. It was also a learning experience for Cody, who spent 26 days in what she describes as a crash-course in directing. Cody talks to us about Paradise and being a working mother while trying to direct a Hollywood film.
14 | CINE WORLD | October-2013 | http://cinepanjab.blogspot.com

What was your inspiration for Paradise? Diablo Cody: As a writer, I feel like Im known for having characters that are well-versed in pop culture, so I thought, What if I was to write about a protagonist who has never watched television? Who doesnt have internet access? Who doesnt know ANY of that stuff? And I just dig down into the essence of a person without all that static? That could be challenging and that could be fun. Notably, you leave out the plane crash and pick up the story after Lamb has had her accident. Why? DC: I was a first time director and I did not feel like directing a plane crash. I am always looking for the easy way out. Storyboarding a plane crash was not on my to do list, so I thought Id go with what I knew, which is conversation. Youre already a successful screenwriter and youve started producing. Why did you decide to direct this film yourself? DC: Weirdly enough, it was never something I had aspired to do. I had friends who were directors tell me its a necessary step in my career, and most screenwriters aspire to be directors, but I never felt super motivated to do it, mainly because I had had such great collaborations on features with directors. At the same time I wrote Paradise and, I thought, this is the 4th feature Ive worked on and maybe its time. Ill give it a try. Rather than have this movie sit in development for two years while we look for a director, I could just go do it. And that was appealing to me.

It just seemed like the most efficient way to get the film from script to screen, and fortunately enough I was allowed to do it! What would you change about Paradise and your directing experience? DC: Not just as a director, but as a screenwriter, I would rewrite every single script that Ive ever worked on. Oh yeah. In my mind Im still editing. In terms of directing, I could give you a list of 100 things I would do differently. I am never ever satisfied with my work, particularly in this case, my first time doing something, but you learn as you go. I knew this was going to be an on-the-job training because I had never

Nicole Kidman

directed anything, not a short, not a video, nothing...then one day Im on set and directing a feature film with a multi-million dollar budget. Will you direct again? DC: I dont think Im going to do it again anytime soon because I have really small children, and I learned during the shoot that its really difficult for me to be present as a mother and a director. So for the sake of my kids and for the sake of cinema, I dont think Im going to direct for a while. You directed this while pregnant with your second child, which the press pointed out numerous times. Did being pregnant

15 | CINE WORLD | October-2013 | http://cinepanjab.blogspot.com

affect the business side of directing in any way? DC: People do treat it like a really big deal. Like it was almost impossible for me to get insured. I thought that was shocking. Because theyll insure an overweight 70-yearold man who is a heart attack risk no problem. But, a healthy, 33-year-old pregnant woman is super high risk and that was strange to me. So that surprised me. I didnt think it would be treated as that big of a deal. Being pregnant wasnt the tough part, cause that baby is on the inside. It was taking care of my first child, who was about 18 months old at the time that was hard. A toddler is extremely demanding. It was really hard for me to relinquish so many of my responsibilities for a month. I found it really difficult. Do you think motherhood plays a big role in why women arent as present in Hollywood as directors? DC: 100%. I dont think you can generalize it completely, but motherhood has to have some kind of something to do

with it. Because like it or not, even when women are the primary breadwinners, even when we work full time, were still expected in a lot of ways to be the primary parent. And we often want to be the primary parent as well. I had never really made that connection before, I used to say, Oh, its so mysterious why there arent more female directors, I dont get it. I had all these wild theories and now I think thats got to be it. I have a feeling itll be different when my kids are older. Nancy Meyers told me she felt that directing was a great job for a mom. I think thatd be the case with older kids. But with little ones? Thats day in and day out. Its relentless. Im not comfortable have somebody else raise my kid completely. I need to be there. I dont know any male directors who have kids who feel guilt about it. Not a single one. Why should I feel guilty about making a movie thats going to last forever? And yet I do. I have tremendous guilt about the whole thing. Do you think Hollywood is tougher for women than it is for men? DC: As a woman youre still expected to constantly prove yourself, whereas men are allowed to have flops without people blaming it on their gender. If a man has a flop, people will blame it on a variety of factors. But if a woman directs a movie and it doesnt do well, suddenly its because shes a woman. Thats aggravating to me. __________________________

How has your journey as an actress been till date? I have taken the right decision with the films I have chosen, and its been a great experience till date. Not many people know but acting has been my third profession, and I dont know if it will be my last profession or not, but at the moment Im enjoying it, and its something I want to do. Before City Bank I have worked in Ford Foundation, an NGO for 2 years. Now I know that cinema is very important in our country, and I always wanted to influence people so that I could change their lives and thinking. I soon realized that its only through cinema that I can reach out to a larger audience. Talking about profession you are playing a journalist in this film, so how has it been to be on the other side of the fence? I have played a journalist even before in a film called Mumbai Meri Jaan, and I think between Mumbai Meri Jaan and War Chod Na Yaar theres been a lot of change media. Media has a very important role to play now and is doing a very good job by the way they collect the information, which is very important in the society, and especially in a democracy. If you think that by a particular subject you want to influence people you cant do it without the media. After Rang De Basanti there was a RDB effect. People after watching a film dont go and discuss it back home, but after RDB they went home and spoke about the subject. So talking about a war subject like the India Pakistan war that has been happening since several years, and this film is to awaken the citizens of our country on policy making to different ministers of various countries like America,

India, and what they are doing and how can we influence them to change, and the role of the media amongst that. Its normally said that a country is influenced by cinema in a big way, so talking about the army officers in the film, and whatever they are doing for the country, will this film help the nation? This is the first time that we are showing you a war comedy, in an entertained format. We are showing you a film where you are not just laughing but even thinking on the concept. We are showing what the politicians are thinking, the army people at the border and what they are going through, through the eyes of a reporter. Sharman and I had gone to

Wagah border at the time when we were shooting for Rang De Basanti and for this film we went to the borders and met the army officers to know what goes on in their lives. Many thought that your role in the film was similar to Barkha Dutt In this film my name is Dutta. I think if you are thinking of a journalist who goes to the border; the first name that comes to your mind is Barkha Dutt because she too has gone to the border. When you watch the film you will realize that its not only on her that we have not staged this character, nor am I Arnab Goswami, so its not that we have shown a particular journalist, we have just shown a character. This is your third film with

I dont discuss my work usually. But sometimes its Amma (Sharmila) I talk to. In the earlier days, during Rang De Basanti, she would tell me that you have really pretty eyes so dont look in a direction in an instance; use your lady like features, the way of sharmaoing (shying). Bhai (Saif) has become a producer so he knows who is doing what in the industry. He knows who is a good producer and director in the industry. I love it when anybody comes to me with a script and I get very excited. Saif normally tells me that the script that you choose must be good, so that kind of advice I get from him. While many actresses in the industry prefer being tight-lipped about their relationship, you have always been vocal about your relationship with Kunal Khemu Because I have nothing to hide, and I dont feel that there is anything to hide either. Im happy and I enjoy talking about it because this subject makes me happy. So are you planning of tying the knot soon? No, not now. Honestly there is no plan, as you all know that we have moved in together, but we are very happy that we get to spend ample time with each other. Will we get to see you in any of your brothers films? We both feel very uncomfortable when we mix professional life with family life. Im younger to him and I feel that whatever films he has done are amazing, especially after Go Goa Gone, and I felt that only he could make such a film. I would love to work with him if he feels Im good and not because he is my elder brother. C

Sharman Joshi, so how was your experience working with him? We had gone to the Wagah border while shooting for Rang De Basanti and we didnt know that after 5-6 years we will actually be doing a film there. Sharman is a very good actor. I have worked with him in the past and have also seen all his films till date. He is looking very nice in the army officers role. This is the first time that a film has been shot at your palace, how was your experience working at home? It was very good to work at home as its very comfortable. All those who work there know me so its very good, and at the same time I felt very weird because I have spend a lot of time there as a child, and working there was a

different feeling. We have done 1 or 2 scenes there, and I simply love going to Pataudi. Now that you have another successful actress, Kareena Kapoor, as your sister-inlaw in the house, do you two discuss your roles and films? Do you feel that when we sit together as a family we discuss roles? There is so much more to discuss like who is dating who (laughs), there is a lot more happening, and she knows exactly what is happening in the industry. So I think as a family at the dining table if you have four actors sitting, there will be a non- stop discussion. Having been born and brought up in an illustrious family, who do you discuss your work with?

Young Malang Story of Six Friends

The plot revolves around 6 friends who despite being from very different backgrounds forge a strong bond of friendship. The film introduces Balli Riar as Jaskaran Brar a rich, short tempered brat who uses his hands more than his tongue. Also introducing Vinaypal Buttar as Kashmeer Singh a desi jatt from Bathinda, who considers himself an action man. Adding highly to the star quotient to the film is superstar Yuvraj Hans, who will be seen in a completely different character in this film. It will be a complete treat for the audience to see Yuvraj in a truly refreshing and never before seen character which is much more closer to him in real life. He plays the role of a NRI lover boy who falls for each and every girl. Bollywood actress Anjana Sukhnai too plays an important role in the film. The film is the journey of these teenagers from their first day of college to the last, the nostalgic journey of bonding and falling in love, making friends and enemies, facing ups and downs while growing up day by day. The film is packed with fun and humour. C
