Installation guide for MySQL on window xp operating system.

Objective:
This installation guide will help you to install the MySQL software on the window xp operating system.

Step by step guide:

1. Double click on the MySQL exe setup as shown below.

Select the radio button corresponding to the custom option and then click on the next button. $n click of the next button the window as shown below will appear. %lick on the next button to further proceed the installation.

'. $n click on the install button the window as shown below will appear. (ait until the process is completed.

). (hen the process is completed the window as shown below will appear. Select the radio button corresponding to the skip sign up operation. Then press the next button to proceed.

*. $n click on the next button the window as shown below will appear. %lick on the finish button.

+. $n click of the finish button the window as shown below will appear. %lick on the next button.

1,. $n click of the next button the window as shown below will appear. Select the radio button corresponding to the Standard %onfiguration option. !nd then click on the next button.

11. $n click of the next button the window as shown below will appear. Select both of the check boxes. !nd click on the next button.

After the installation of MySQL is completed we have to set the path of the C: MySQL MySQL Server !"# bin directory in the environment variables"

Step by step guide to set the path for MySQL"

1. $pen the %/0MySQL0MySQL Ser1er &.,0bin directory and copy the path from the address bar. !s shown below.

. 2ow right click on the My %omputer icon on the desktop. !nd click on the properties option as shown below.

". !fter this the window as shown below will appear. %lick on the !d1anced $ption as shown below.

&. !fter click on the 3n1ironment 4ariables option the window as shown below will appear.

'. 5rom the next opened window select path from the System 4ariables and then click on edit button. ). $n click on the edit button the window as shown below will appear.

*. 6ut a semi colon 7 8 9 at the end of the already existing 1alue in the 1ariable 1alue field. !nd then paste the copied path after the semi colon. !nd then press ok button to sa1e the changes. Then again press the ok button from the pre1iously opened window. !nd then again press ok button to sa1e the changes finally from the pre1iously opened window.

+. 2ow to check the path. $pen the command prompt and type MySQL :u root and then press enter. !s shown below.

1,. !fter pressing the enter key the following window will appear.

11. ;f the abo1e shown window appear it means you ha1e successfully installed the MySQL and you ha1e properly set the path for the MySQL. ;f the window does not appear it means you make some mistake. To resol1e this problem again follow the steps as mentioned abo1e.
