Popcorn Words/High Frequency First 9 week words:

at family wordsWe will look at the pattern in words with at ending, we will read books at home with the at word family, we will learn that word family words rhyme.
Handwriting:
We will do 2 letters this week: Remember to begin letters at the top when forming for handwriting purposes.

New words this week: you,what,-at word family---cat,sat,rat,bat, etc

Writers Workshop: Continue practice having your child write by stating and sounding out each sound in a word. Remember spelling is not essential when we are writing in writers Workshop (popcorn words should be spelled correctly) The key is getting your child to write.

Letters and sounds your child should know: Ll,Tt,Ii,Oo,Aa,Dd,Cc,Ee, and Ff


Teacher Appreciation week and Spirit Wear

Math
This week we will compare numbers. We will also begin working on the numbers 10-20 using ten frames. Students need to know that 10+1=11 and be able to represent the number using 10 frames. This work is represented in your childs homework packets for November too. Some students who are already fluent with 10-20 will be working on addition skills too.

Tuesday-No School Wednesday-Changed to Dress like a Super-hero day Thursday- We are tickled purple about our staff-wear purple day Friday- Crazy hat day-to wear a hat please bring a canned good, nonperishable item or toiletry. All week we are collecting these items for families in our community in need.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Miss Spiders Tea party on Friday.. Mrs. Ponder took photos for us so as soon as I get those I will be posted the photos on our class blog Thank you for families who donated items to help with the tea party- Special thanks to Mrs. Ponder, Mrs. Kinnaman, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Burtan, Mrs. Lewellyn and Mrs. Scott for volunteering their time on Friday!!!

Reminders !
Homework is coming home today for the month of NovemberI hope this format is working well for all my Kinder families. Math Workbooks: You can work on pages in Chapter 15 pages 283-296 These pages will teach your child more about the numbers greater than 10 and the ten frame format. Books can be kept at home and your child can work on skills that align with in class skills taught. I will update pages that align on the newsletter.

Monday November 4th-Friday November 8th- Canned Food and Non-perishable food item Drive!
Tuesday, November 5th; - No students staff professional learning Wednesday, November 6th: Doughnuts with Dad at 7:00 a.m.
Upcoming Events: November 12: end of fundraiser November 14th- students will watch the BPE Talent Show at School (postponed from October) November 28th-29th- Thankgsgiving recess No School

Please refer to 2nd 9 weeks skills on your childs report card to understand what standards that we will be covering in class. Be sure to reinforce skills as they are presented in class. This is so beneficial for your child. Some new skills are: Ending sounds Rhyming Identifying the characters and setting in a story Sequencing events in a story Comparing numbers Writing and creating ten frames for the numbers 11-20 We are packed with Learning!!
