OBJECTIVE
The fluid properties investigated in this laboratory are density (), dynamic and kinematic viscosity ( and ) and surface tension (). From a hydraulic engineering standpoint, density and viscosity are the most important; surface tension is important in subsurface contaminant transport. The objective here is to demonstrate the measurement of these primary fluid properties.

PROCEDURE
Measures the density: Firstly, the tube must submerged in water and the scale marked in the submerged part. Then, the operation is repeated by submerged the tube in another li uid and marking again the submerged length. Measure the Visc sity: !. Find in the table li uid of known viscosity. ". Fill the capillary viscometer with li uid of known viscosity and density, and writ down the time used by the li uid of going down the viscometer. #. $elect the suitable tube of viscometer. %. Fill the sample on &apillary tube viscometer. '. (lace on constant temperature bath. ). *djust the head level sample above starting mark. +. ,easure flow in seconds from start to stop marks. -. The .inematic viscosity is computed by multiplying the flow time by the calibration constant. Measure!ent " ca#i$$ary risin%: !. ,ake sure those capillaries are well clean. ".
