GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the proposed TurboVenturi Scrubber is to reduce particulate matter in the exhaust gas stream from dryers. o TURBOVENTURI SCRUBBER The dust-laden air enters the TurboVenturi vertically. Recycle liquid is introduced so that a wet-dry line is avoided. The liquid lowers the gas temperature and brings the gas to adiabatic saturation. The TurboVenturi has no spray nozzles, but the scrubbing liquid enters through straight open pipes, which will prevent plugging and wear. The scrubbing liquid can therefore be recycled to a relatively high solids concentration to minimize the bleed. The scrubbing liquid is injected tangentially at the top of the TurboVenturi and swirls down the converging section (as in a dentist bowl) covering the walls completely, which will prevent creation of a wet-dry line, where dust build can occur. The liquid film also protects the metal surfaces from abrasion. Additional liquid is introduced through radial pipes in the TurboVenturi throat, to ensure complete coverage of the throat area. The liquid is atomized in the throat by the high velocity gas stream. The dust particles get entrapped in the liquid droplets, which are collected and separated from the gas in the downstream Cyclonic Separator. The elbow connecting the TurboVenturi to the Separator is a so-called Flooded Elbow, with a liquid reservoir in the bottom, which takes the impact of the high velocity liquid/gas stream and prevents erosion on the metal surfaces. The high turbulence also creates a secondary contact zone, which aids in the particulate removal efficiency. The Cyclonic Separator is a vertical vessel with a bottom inlet and a top discharge. The tangential inlet has a decreasing cross section called an involute. The liquid with entrapped particulates is exposed to centrifugal and gravitational forces and spins down to the bottom cone, from which a Recycle Pump returns the liquid to the TurboVenturi liquid inlets. A blow-down connection on the discharge side of the pump removes a certain portion of the liquid to maintain a pre-set concentration of particulates in the recycle loop. The cleaned gas spirals upward in the Separator. The height of the vessel is sufficient to attain complete removal of all liquid droplets. The separator exhaust is a horizontal discharge exiting tangentially from the top of the separator.

TURBOVENTURI SCRUBBER The TurboVenturi Scrubber is a vertical vessel with four (4) tangential liquid inlets at the hot gas inlet, arranged to create a dentist bowl effect in the converging section to prevent dust build-up and minimize erosion. The throat section has three (3) additional liquid inlets with inserts to ensure complete liquid coverage in the center of the throat. MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION: Entire Venturi Scrubber Plate Thickness External Stiffeners & Flanges
CYCLONIC SEPARATOR The Separator has a tangential gas inlet with a reducing cross sectional area, the purpose of which is to increase the centrifugal forces on the gas/liquid stream. The liquid is draining to the bottom cone by gravitational forces, while the cleaned gas spins upward in the vessel. The gas exits at the top and the liquid drains through the bottom outlet to the pump(s) for recirculation back to the Venturi.
