Dear Parents, This year we will be using Edmodo in Class 5-IS.

Edmodo is a free and secure learning network for teachers, students, and schools. It provides a safe way for teachers and students to connect, share content, access homework, participate in discussions, manage due dates, and receive class information. Edmodo is accessible online and through any mobile device with Internet capabilities including free apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices. Students can access their account from any mobile device or computer, and set up notications within Edmodo to receive alerts/reminders via text or e-mail. Edmodo will not be used as a social network like Facebook or MySpace. This tool will be used strictly for educational purposes using the following guidelines: Students will be required to use appropriate grammar instead of texting language Edmodo does not allow private student-to-student messaging - the site will be used to discuss school-related content only, and I will monitor all Edmodo activity No put-downs or sarcasm toward anothers ideas. All school rules and consequences related to harassment apply

Students who violate the guidelines above may face disciplinary action and/or face losing the privilege of using Edmodo. You can also sign up for a parent account that is linked to your student account, and will help keep you informed of due dates, assignments, grades, school events, important resources, and any direct communication between your child and me I look forward to a great year as we incorporate the use of technology into our classroom curriculum. Dear Parents of Class 5-IS, Thank you for allowing your child to participate in Edmodo. I cant wait to get started. At first we will use the page for HW questions that students might have. This will help them to communicate misunderstandings and get used to using it. Once we are used to it, more will be added.

Sign Up as a Student
If you have never created an Edmodo Account, you can create a new Student Account by following the steps below: 1. Obtain a 6-digit Group Code from your teacher. i36xnx 2. Visit www.edmodo.com and select the blue Im a Student button. 3. Fill out the registration form with the Group Code, a unique username, and password. 4. An email address is optional, but not required, to sign up for a Student Account. If you have one, it can be useful for receiving notifications or resetting your password. 5. Select the Sign up button to complete the sign up process. You will then see the Group your teacher created in the left side panel of your account.

To Join Our Group

1. Log in to Edmodo. 2. Click the plus sign next to the word Groups in the left panel of your home page. 3. Enter the Group Code for the group you want to join, and click Join. This is our code to join --- edmo.do/j/hvz1sd

Parent Sign-Up Guide

Signing up for a Parent Account on Edmodo is a great way to support your childs education and stay up to date about your child's classroom activities, assignments, grades, and school events. This guide outlines the simple sign-up process, so you can get started observing your childs classroom right away. How to Sign Up as a Parent 1. Obtain the unique 6-digit Parent Code from your childs account (this is not the same asyour childs Group Codes).

 The Parent Code is attached to your childs account. You can get this the following ways: ! Your childs Edmodo Homepage: the Parent Code is located on the bottom of the left side panel on their homescreen. ! Your childs teacher can provide you or your child with the Parent Code, once your child has signed up for an account. 2. After you have the parent code, go to www.edmodo.com (currently, you cannot create your Account on the mobile or iPad Edmodo app). 3. Click the Im a Parent button, and fill in the necessary information and Parent Code. Note: Each child has a different Parent Code, and you can add multiple children to your Parent Account. You do not have to share a Parent Account with another parent, relative, or guardian. Multiple Parent Accounts can be set up for one student.
