Course Outline - Day 2 Session 9: Demands. In this session students will become proficient in specifying OD matrix style demand for a Paramics model. Paramics use of an OD matrix better enables it to forecast future alternatives as traffic doesnt have hard coded routes and can therefore accurately model changes in route choice between base and test scenarios. Session 10: Driver Behaviour. Session 10 outlines the core behaviour configurations provided in Paramics. Students will become confident using both global and localised behaviour configurations as well as learning when and where these modifiers should be used. Session 11: Routing. Students will learn about the different route choice algorithms available in Paramics and, using the interactive tools provided, gain an appreciation of the suitability of different assignment methods to various network layouts. Session 12: Processor. Processor is a powerful tool for creating multiple batch runs of a network for analysis purposes. Students will learn how to use Processor configuring the software to automatically generate a wealth of output statistics and post simulation analysis. Session 13: Data Analysis. In this session students will learn how to use Paramics Analyser to compare, combine, and manipulate data and create detailed reports. Session 14: Demand Profiles, Time Periods, and Multi-matrices. Paramics models can contain time specific data allowing the user a great deal of freedom in modeling networks scenarios that change over time. Students will learn how to apply demand profiles and multiple matrices allowing them greater control over the loading of traffic demand onto the network. Session 15: Presentation. Realistic 3D presentations can be used to convey results to a non technical audience. Students will learn how to assign life like 3D models to vehicles and place stationary models throughout the network. Bonus topics covered in this section will include movie storyboarding and real time movie capture. Course Outline - Day 3 Session 16: Public Transit. In this session students will become proficient in the application of the Public Transit components of a Paramics model. Students will learn about PT vehicles, stopping points, routes, schedules/services times, and passenger boarding/alighting profiles. Session 17: Car Parks (Parking Lots). Car Parks can be used to model multiple parking destinations for a single trip destination. When combined with variable message signs (VMS) car parks become even more powerful allowing for real time re-routing. Students will learn how to effectively utilise both car parks and VMS re-routing in an urban network scenario. Session 18: Exercises. Concluding the three day course a range of interactive exercises will allow students to apply the new skills they have gained improving learning and building confidence.
