Single Brand – Application Rules

The objective of this chapter is to provide our

dealerships around the world with the necessary
guidelines that will enable them to organise
and install the brand design effectively and
consistently.

Key guiding principles have been developed

as a common guideline for various typical

to understand the application possibilities of
the Opel corporate design elements.

It is important to achieve the alignment of the

individual elements that they can support each
other to provide the best possible effect to the
brand and the consumers.

Opel corporate design elements reflected by

standards and recommendations are:

· Monolith
· Fascia
· Flags
· Guidance system, contract indication
· Guidance system, directional signage

the Opel brand design effectively and consistently
within a multibrand environment.

How to organise several brand identities at one

Key guiding principles and recommendations

have been developed between all GME brands
as a common guideline for multibrand solutions.

· All brands are equal – non hierarchical solutions.

· Each brand has to have a clearly assigned
dedicated showroom area.
· Shared facility areas have to be brand neutral.
· Dealership functionality to follow unchanged
the brand individual guidelines.
· Dealer corporate identification has to be clear
and informative.

Opel corporate design elements reflected by

standards and recommendations are:

· Monolith
· Fascia
· Flags
· Guidance system, contract indication
· Guidance system, directional signage
· Opel Blitz, interior
· Point of Sales (POS) System
· Opel Shop
· Colour scheme

Please be aware, that any modifications or

changes to the existing facilities to accommodate
such multibrand activities shall not be done
without prior written information by Opel NSC
of Distributor’s or Authorised Repairer’s compli-
ance with the applicable Distributor or Authorised
Repairer standards.

A car buyer’s perception of a brand is influenced

by the product itself, its performance, its quality,
its design, and the value for money it offers.
Additionally, the perception is also created by
the way a brand is communicated to the public,
and, last but not least, by both the dealerships’
appearance and the service they provide to their
customers. All these different aspects, including
a certain type of prejudice a consumer might
have, lead up to a brand image – be it positive,
neutral or negative. Once the image is coined, it
can only be influenced or changed over the
course time, through changing the identity
of the brand. In recent years, Opel and its part-
ners have successfully worked on the identity of
Opel as a company and a brand.
However, since market conditions and the
competitive environment are changing beyond
control, Opel and its partners are comitted to
look upon change as both a challenge and an
opportunity.

The objective of this manual is to provide our

dealerships around the world with the
neccessary elements that will enable them to
support Opel’s identity-building process both
effectively and consistently. The Corporate
Design specifications outlined in this manual are
geared towards enhancing the competitiveness
of dealers as well as towards strenghening their
relationship with Opel’s partners.

Alucobond is a two composite plate consisting

of two aluminium covering sheets with an
intermediate layer of polyethylene.
Standard cassette
Apart from the material specifications named,
Inner corner Alucobond also offers the following advantages.

Fitted section The recommended weight at the 4 mm plate

thickness is 5.5 kg/m2.
Outer corner

Good bending, deflection and buckling

Standard cassette
strenghts. Alucobond has completely plane
surfaces.

Good oscillation and noise dampening proper-

Fascia cassette ties. Alucobond dampens vibrations and has a
low susceptibility to droning.
Bracket
Easy to work. Alucobond can be processed with
U-section with
or without cutting using conventional tools.
bolt fasteners

Trouble-free joining methods. Alucobond can be

joined with screws, rivets and adhesives. The
core layer can be welded with hot air.

The individual trim elements are cassettes with a

section length of 1.25 m. Any fitted sections
Building which may be needed can be made according
to individual requirements.

The cassettes are suspended in a substructure

0.0 and are additionally secured against being re-
6m moved from the suspension. There are inner and
outer corner elements for forming corners 45
5m degrees, which provide the yellow-white Opel
1.2
fascia with an additional characteristic feature.

The design allows all elements of the yellow-

white Opel fascia to be replaced individually.

The Light channel is part of the facing trim and

0.76/1.06 m

runs underneath the yellow fascia cassette and

Alucobond- only illuminates to the front. A yellow acrylic
standard cassette glass top covers the aluminium channel

(U-section) in which the neon tubes and inline
electronic devices are fastened. The outer and

Rear Wall Panel

Must Recommended Nice to Have
The architectural symbol is the actual centre-
piece of the interior design concept. It is an
indispensible part of the interior design and is
just as impressive there as the yellow/white
fascia is on the exterior.
1.
This architecturally effective symbol alone gives
the room its character and provides the Opel
2. dealership with the most important component
for clear identification.

In order to keep the proportion of a staying

rectangle for the back-wall panel, the width of
the panel should not exceed 85 % of its height.
For constructive reasons, the minimum height of
3.00 m should be strictly adhered to, if possible.

The Brand Symbol (1) is a must element.

The rear wall panel (2) is highly recommended
due to a more qualitative appearance.

The counter element reveals a solid and decent

detailed solution, the consequent appearance
typical of Opel being included.

Optical and light connections to counters take

the negative block-like effect from the piece of
furniture that can be easily combined with
others. The permeable fabric bracing connects
both counters, and faces the technology placed
behind. The connecting elements have to be
arranged in such a way that different impres-
sions of the room can result, the formation of
long parts of counters to be avoided.

In the case of the counter for cash desk and ser-

vice desk, these high requirements relating to
Counter element function and optics have to be also met. The
plate of the counter can be made from either
melamine resin/light grey or glass. The alter-
native use of alu metal sheet is possible.

Furthermore, the counter for cash desk and ser-

vice desk distinguishes itself by an upper surfa-
ce which is closed at the front, can be used at
the reverse due to pigeon holes, and, therefore,
has to be protected against access and insight.
Owing to the chrome-polished girder construc-
tion of the counter board aimed at, the conti-

remains. The connecting elements shown have
to be constructed as 90° angles either on the left
or right so that different graduations are pos-

The range of seating furniture is to be matched

with the overall conception in terms of shape,
colour and quality. The latest knowledge is to
be obtained and to be incorporated in the
selection criteria. Last but not least, importance
has to be attached to the fact that a privileged
impression has to be conveyed to the customer,
i.e. to give the customer appropriate importance
by means of comfortable furniture. For those
areas used by customers, chairs with armrests
should be chosen. For the seats elements,
variations, matched to one another, should be
selected which are carried into execution in both
the functional areas and the customer-oriented
areas, thus obtaining a uniformity of seats and
ensuring that no variety interferes with the
overall picture.

Sales desk, visitiors chairs In order to separate workplaces from each other,
to screen them off optically and acoustically, a
partition-wall system is imaginable. The open-
ness of the interior decoration will be kept while
the shielding is so successful that any conver-
sations not to be listened to by third parties are
held back. In the placing of the furniture, as well
as in the selection of supplementing elements
not described individually, attention has to be
paid to an uninterrupted element language to be
found, which covers all functional areas and
which represents an overall conception with
regard to its shape and colour.
