Electronic Newsletter for Wyomings OUT-OF-OPTIONS Furkids

November 11, 2013

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly

e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.

Special Needs Dog! Douglas, WY Contact: 39again@centurylink.net or 307-359-2443 JASMINE is a purebred Boxer who needs the right situation in
which to be rehomed. She is an only child to a couple who are reluctant to part with her; but due to their medical circumstances they can no longer accomodate Jasmine. They are looking for a wonderful home for her. A trial adoption will be offered. Jasmine is 5 years old and weighs 60 pounds, spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is an athlete, and she needs to be in a home with no other animals. Jasmine is highly prey-oriented and would absolutely not be trusted around cats. She needs to be in a home with a strong leader. She is dominant around other dogs and cannot be trusted in a dog park situation. It is best to walk her in a Halti harness. Jasmine is very sweet with adults and kids, very pleasing and loving. She has never shown any aggression toward a person. She is playful and loves her squeaky toys. Jasmine needs a fenced yard. She is a chaser of all animals. She is a good inside dog, but not an outside dog. She is completely housebroken but will counter surf any food left out. ___________

e-WOOF spotlights many dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted.
Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

diet. He loves to go on hikes and can be trusted off leash in that environment. He is difficult to walk on leash and will need to be on leash when on regular walks. His walking is manageable but will need an owner with some experience. Wilson is looking for the perfect forever home where he can continue to learn to be a good dog and make progress on his goal of living a long and happy life.

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting eWOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/ or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part--while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support FOR THE

PLEASE NOTE:

RAINEE is a fun, snuggly, and affectionate girl. She loves people and other dogs. Rainee gave birth in an animal shelter on August 11th and all of her puppies have moved on to their forever homes. Now that Rainee is getting her girlish figure back, were finding her to be very silly and playful. True to the Rottie breed, she is also extremely protective of her home and foster family. Rainee will need a strongwilled owner who can demonstrate to her that she is not always in charge of every thing going on in her home. Rainee responds well to a firm voice and obedience training so we think a strong leader in her home will help her feel less defensive of her territory. Rainee would make a great backpacking or hiking buddy, she is a sturdy and muscular dog. She enjoys her toys and loves to chew on rawhide bones. Rainee will jump shorter fences so a 6-foot fence will be required to take her home. If you are a confident dog owner who appreciates a loyal protector, an intelligent and playful partner, then Rainee may be for you!
Meet VICTORIA! She has come such a long way since she has been in foster care. Victoria is gaining weight, confidence, and manners. Vic loves to be outside playing in the yard and she also loves to cuddle up inside with her people. Vic is still working on leash etiquette, but with continued training we think she will be great on a leash. Vic has a huge personality and loves to play with other dogs. She will make a great dog for anyone who is willing to just put in a little extra work to shape her into the dog we know she can be! Victoria has hip dysplasia and will need to have shots for life every 4-6 weeks. The cost of the shots is relatively low and cost $25 at her current vet. ____________

Sheridan, WY Contact: ewoof@wyoming.com JOEY is a typical Heeler mix...very exuberant and full of energy.
He is about 2 years of age and is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He gets along with with people and other dogs - but probably would not be a good fit for a home with cats.

JOEY

ANIMALS!

MAX is a small Border Collie/Heeler mix who was recently rescued from the reservation. He weighs about 30 pounds and is about 8 months old. He will be neutered before adoption. He is very social and good with people and all dogs. BUSY is a Border Collie mix, approximately 1 to 1-1/2 years of age. She is spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. The ideal home for Busy would be one where she could spend her days and nights with her person. She is a fairly quiet little dog - about 35 to 40 pounds. Busy has been at the boarding facility now for several months and would love to have her own home. She is going to be an easy dog to live with and shows no desire to leave home.

RASCAL loves all kinds of humans, including kids. He was picked up stray by a shelter that does not keep their dogs very long. Rascal is 5 years old and very healthy. Neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and micro chipped. He is not great with other male dogs, but loves the girls. Rascal also loves to play ball. GIBBS is a 12 month old neutered male Aussie boy. Gibbs doesnt
seem to have had much by the way of training in his life. He seems pretty typical of an Aussie his age. Very active and a bit unruly. He is VERY smart and food motivated. In the right hands he will be a great boy. We think he needs a home where he is going to have structure, be firm, and fair. He would probably be a great obedience dog. He is good with other dogs and will allow himself to be handled on feet, ears, and mouth. Because of Gibbs drive and busy nature no children under the age of 12-13. RASCAL

BRUNO is a neutered male Border Collie Aussie mix. He is 18-24 months old and weighs about 55-60 lbs. In his foster home he has been great with all the other dogs. He has also been great with children but he likely would be a little rough around small children. He would probably knock them over. He is very loving and for the most part listens well. He loves to play fetch and his foster family is working on him giving the ball back. An active person would love him as a companion. Running, hiking, etc. Bruno is in the Denver area. ____________

Canine Learning Center Contact: Christi Chapman at 307-320-5214 or adoption@caringlearningconnecting.org http://www.caringlearningconnecting.org COFFEE came to us from a hoarding situation in January at about 4 weeks of age. She is in foster now with 5 other dogs, and doing really well. She loves to play! She recently suffered an injury though, severing the tendons and ligaments in her right front leg. She is already out of the cast, the surgery to repair them went very well, and the vet feels she will have no lasting effects from this injury! Coffee is URGENT, she is losing her foster home this week, and we would consider transferring her to an alternate rescue. She does best in a foster home, rather than the kennel environment.

Canine Learning Center Contact: Christi Chapman at 307-320-5214 or adoption@caringlearningconnecting.org http://www.caringlearningconnecting.org VEGAS is a mixed breed of unknown ancestry. She came to us from the Navajo Nation, after having been dumped in a dumpster with her sisters at 2 weeks of age! She is about 6 months of age now, spayed and updated on her vaccinations. She is sweet, loves people, and good with other dogs. Her sisters were adopted quickly, but we suspect she suffers from the black dog syndrome and that is why she is not catching any attention. She was by far the sweetest of them all- with her adoring nature! We feel that she will be about the size of a border collie or smaller lab. JADE has been with us for close to two years. He came with some behavioral issues, mostly reactivity with other dogs. What we found, was that Jade was insecure and very much a LAB personality! He now has become the uncle figure to all of the pups who come through our rescue. He is kind and playful with them, he teaches them healthy limits in a positive way. How rewarding to find a dog who passes along what you have taught him! He loves to go for long, off-leash hikes, swims, play in his pool, play tug and fetch. He does need a fair amount of exercise, but he has learned to chill out and be calm when it is appropriate. Jade is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and trained in basic obedience. He does great with other dogs now, and loves people! ____________ Park County Animal Shelter -- Cody, WY Contact: 307-587-5110 or manager@parkcountyanimalshelter.com ACE is a 3 year male Black Lab. He is great with other dogs and children. Ace is an active boy who loves to run and play fetch. Since he loves to run, he would be great with an active family. He had surgery on his bowels when he was a year old, and when the vet removed the breathing tube it damaged his vocal cords. Because of this, Ace has a pretty rough bark. He is a very sweet boy who is looking for his forever family! JACK SPARROW is a 5 year old Poodle mix. He is a sweet, loving, high energy dog, who came to us because he had a little too much energy than his elderly owner could handle. He needs someone who is willing to walk him, and play ball with himso he would be a great family dog! He gets along with most other dogs, and is great with children. MIA is a 5 year old female Treeing Walker Hound mix. She came to us because her owners were moving and could not take her with them. She was raised around children so she would be a wonderful family dog. She would do best in a home without other dogs and without cats. She is a very affectionate and sweet girl who loves everyone! ____________
