NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting aerial and ground patrols to inspect and assess the impact of the typhoon to its operations and facilities. Based on NGCPs survey, 248 transmission towers and 198 poles are either toppled or broken, and 120 poles are leaning. Of these structures, more than 60% are located in Panay Island. To expedite the restoration efforts, the operations and maintenance group sent line crews and engineers from Luzon and Mindanao to reinforce the manpower in Visayas. At present, 30 additional line crews from North and South Luzon are working together to restore the Ormoc-Cabacungan 350kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) connecting the Luzon Grid to the Visayas Grid, and the Ormoc-Babatngon and Paranas-Babatngon 138kV lines. NGCPs Mindanao region will also send line crews to repair the Ormoc-Tabango 138kV line.

Maintenance and Testing units from North and South Luzon will augment the Visayas team to restore four priority substations in Samar and Leyte, and the Tabango Cable Terminal Station. Apart from restoring the lines and energizing the substations, NGCP also monitors the power situation in Visayas as many power plants went offline due to the typhoon. As of November 12, the total capacity of the Visayas grid is 1058 megawatts (MW) with a peak demand of 1158MW. This supply and demand situation caused by limited power supply might result to load shedding or curtailment in some municipalities in the Visayas region. Loss of power may be caused by affected transmission facilities of NGCP or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives. Specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruptions are determined by concerned Distribution Utilities, unless the outage affects the entire franchise area. NGCP is already in coordination with the Department of Energy, National Electrification Administration, and other concerned agencies to consolidate all efforts to restore the power in the Visayas the soonest possible time. #### (Please see photos)

The Leyte Area Control Center (in photo) and substation were one of the first facilities badly hit by Typhoon Yolanda. The building suffered shattered window glasses and dilapidated walls which caused rain water to enter and severely damage the control centers equipment and computers.
