ANNA UNIVERSITY
Anna University was established on 4 September 1978. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and Allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. Anna University, which is of the affiliated type is a member of the Association of Indian Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities and partner of UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education (UICEE). It has four regional centres at Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore and Madurai to spearhead the academic activities throughout the state.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

LaTeX was first developed in 1985 by Leslie Lamport, and is now being maintained and developed by the LaTeX3 Project. LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents but it can be used for almost any form of publishing. LaTeX is not a word processor. Instead, LaTeX encourages authors not to worry too much about the appearance of their documents but to concentrate on getting the right content. LaTeX is based on the idea that it is better to leave document design to document designers, and to let authors get on with writing documents. This workshop aims at giving a background knowledge about LaTeX and to make PG Students and Ph.D. scholars excel in writing proficient paper and thesis.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED
Introduction to LaTeX. Typesetting journal articles, technical reports, books and slide presentations. Installation Procedure. Typesetting of complex mathematical formulae. Advanced typesetting of mathematics with AMS-LaTeX. Control over large documents containing sectioning, cross-references, tables and figures. Automatic generation of bibliographies and indexes. Multi-lingual typesetting. Inclusion of art work, and process or spot color. Using PostScript or Meta font fonts. LaTeX Configuration. Journal Paper, PhD Thesis Writing Demo.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Regional Centre of Anna University, Tirunelveli region was established in the year 2008 and is offering B.E. (CSE), B.Tech. (IT), M.Tech. Dual Degree (CSE,IT & SWE), M.E.(CSE) and Ph.D. programmes. The Department aims at producing technically sound students. To assist the students in achieving their vision, the Department has a team of well experienced and dedicated faculty members doing research on Image Processing, Ad-hoc and Sensor Networks, Mobile Computing, Network Security, Data Mining, Grid Computing, Cloud Computing etc. To update the technical knowledge of students to the recent trends, the Department organizes various technical seminars, workshops and symposiums. National Level Conference and Faculty Development Programmes have also been organized by the Department.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Target Audience include Research Scholars, Faculty members and Final year UG/PG students from Engineering Colleges. No TA and DA will be provided to the participants. On prior request from the participants, accommodation may be arranged in lodges at their own cost.

REGISTRATION FEE
Participation Fee : Rs.1000/The registration fee should be paid only through DD drawn in favor of The Head, DCSE, payable at Tirunelveli. Registration fee includes certificate, workshop kit, lunch and refreshments.
