Lesson 29: Four kinds of verbs, November copywork

Review A verb is a word that does an action, shows a state of being, links two words together, or helps another verb.

*Show & tell me an action verb.

*State of being verbs: am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been

*Some verbs help each other and they are called helping verbs: am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been, have, has, had, do, does, did, shall, will, should, would, may, might, must, can, could. *Linking verbs link two verbs together. Listen to some examples your teacher gives you and decide which two verbs link together.

Read the poem How Creatures Move on pg. 66. Then look for helping verbs and action verbs on each line.

Copywork: Copy the November couplet from the poem The Year and illustrate it. You could also cut & paste pictures from magazines or old calendars!
