Coal Mine Single Hole Blast Design

The following spreadsheet will calculate the configuration of a single blast hole. The calculations are based on the following parameters: coal seam depth, rock type, blasting agent density, and the distance of the nearest structure. Rock Type (SH, SS, LS) Blasting Agent Density (r) (g/cc) Distance to Nearest Structure (D) (ft) Hole Depth (H) (ft) Hole Diameter (d) (in) d(in) = H / 7.5 Burden (B) B(ft) = 2.5 * d(in) Spacing (S) S(ft) = 1.5 * B(ft) Stemming (T) T(ft) = 0.7 * B Powder Column (PC) PC(ft) = H - T - F(ft) - T d (ft) Loading Density (LD) LD(lb/ft) = 0.3405 * r * d 2 Charge Weight (CW) CW(lb) = PC * LD Powder Factor (PF) PF(lb/yd 3 ) = CW / (B * S * H / 27) Scaled Distance (SD) SD(ft/lb 1/2 ) = D / CW 1/2 Peak Particale Velocity (PPV) PPV(in/s) = 438 * SD -1.52 0.00 Blast Hole Cross-section 0 0 0 0
