They are fighting hard for their families, and were fighting for them. The major challenges facing society today are too big and too complex for any one country or sector to solve alone. Walmart must do our part to give our customers better options and better lives. And by working collaboratively with our many fantastic partners around the globe, we had a productive year. Here are a few of my favorite examples: Renewable energy now provides 21 percent ofWalmarts electricity globally, and we

became the largest on-site green power generatorin theUnited States; Walmart and theWalmart Foundation are increasing training, market access and career opportunitiesfor nearly 1 million women worldwide; Walmart and theWalmart Foundation gave more than $1 billion to support organizationsthatimpactlocal communities around the world; Walmart and theWalmart Foundation became the first partner of Feeding America to donate 1 billion meals(since 2005); We have saved our customers $2.3 billion on fresh fruits and vegetablessince 2011; and Walmart committed to hire any honorably dischargedU.S. veteran in his or her first year off active duty. http://corporate.walmart.com/microsites/globalresponsibility-report-2013/pdf/Walmart_GRR.pdf
