IBC site PIM locating guide

Permission: 1. 2. IBC site access permission Site DEA permission

Engineers: 1. Operator engineer (clearly with the diagram of the IBC system, and record the detailed operation steps) 2. LMT operator (do the PIM test)

After preparatory works are being completed, you can enter the actual investigation phase. Actual investigation follows the "segmented investigation, from near to far" principle. Points out every piece of RF path should contain multiple nodes, shown as below,

Once operating can exclude multiple nodes determine the issue; IBC sites antenna systems are usually many nodes, one by one node investigation is very inefficient. BTS from near and far are based on the top, by the first part near BTS positioned away after positioning. Because RF path passive inter-modulation interference is characterized by higher transmit power, passive inter-modulation interference generated by the stronger and closer from the BTS, the passive inter-modulation interference will be lower with the smaller power as the attenuation of the RF path insertion loss, so the priority of the jumpers near the BTS will be higher.

The method of alternative contrast can be used to confirm the RF path properly or not,

Low PIM load

Replace the certain segment RF path with the low PIM load and do the PIM testing (MML: STRRFTEST). There will be PIM interference with part 2 when PIM test result is no PIM as the example diagram below:

Or there will be PIM interference with part1 as the example diagram below:

For example: Troubleshooting steps are as follows :

1 According to the "segmented investigation, from near to far " principle, at a distance of BTS recent couplers, both through the coupler output ports 1 and 2, the entire antenna system is divided into two sections ; 2 Use the " alternative comparison " method, first disconnect a port , connected to low inter-modulation load , PIM test result was observed with changes ( note start MML: STR RFTEST test ) ; 3 Disconnect the two ports , connected to low inter-modulation load , interference with the changes observed . Assuming the point of failure in the back part 2 port, then disconnect the two ports, you will see no PIM interference; 4 On 2-port the following section, repeated use of the above principles and methods to power splitter is bounded , splitters output port as part of the following two paragraphs 3,4 , respectively, to confirm. Assuming fault is at port 3 of the following sections, the PIM test result will be no PIM interference when disconnect the 3-port; 5 part below the 3-port, to continue the process. Assuming a real failure point is the red circle position of the small antenna. Then, during the port 5 is disconnected, you can confirm that the problem occurs in the following 5-port ; 6 port is disconnected , you can confirm the fault point between 5,6 ; 7 port is disconnected, narrowed to the coupler and the small antenna ; Finally , after disconnecting the small antenna interference cancellation , determine the fault point is the small antenna . Diagram is shown in the next page.
