YAANA ( SIRSI )
Yaana, in the heart of the thick woods of Western Ghats, is a pilgrim center as well as a tourist destination placed amongst the evergreen picturesque forest of the Sahyadri Mountains. The place, small coastal town and a commercial center, is known for its imposing mountains, very different kinds of rocks and stones, gushing misty water falls and the most Sacred-Temples. There was a proverb in this area that only those with tremendous bravery and determination can go to Yana, personifies the trek to Yana of the past, really an adventurous deed. Yana also moves on the evolution of modern world with motorable roads, fantastic hotels and the emerging modern civilization, of course, with its own ills. The impressive rocks have been roughened in the due course by the extreme conditions of sun, hysterical winds and heavy rains. It is of the opinion that Yana is a must for hikers and trekkers - they will be delighted with Yana. One peak stands 400 feet tall and is called Bhairaveshwari Shikhara while the other stands at 300 feet and is called the Mohini Shikhara. Legend has it that here Lord Vishnu assumed the female form of Mohini and killed the demon Bhasmasura. Yaana Hills is a great place for everyone the jungle hiker, nature lover, pilgrim and for the more adrenalin seeking rock climber.

MARIKAMBA TEMPLE (SIRSI) Travellers on a trip to Sirsi must visit the 17th century Sri Marikamba Temple that is located in Sirsi, Uttara Kannada, Karnataka. Devotees visit this temple to offer prayers to a 7 feet high statue of a wooden deity. According to local belief, the wooden statue of Goddess Shri Marikamba, the deity worshipped in Uttara and Dakshin Kannada, was found in a tank on the outskirts of the town. In 1611, Sadashiva Rao II, the King of Sonda, gave orders to install the wooden deity at this place. This idol is considered to be the biggest idol and site devoted to Marikamba in Karnataka.

SAHASRA LINGA There are hundreds of the stones with Shiva Linga carved on them by the side or river 'Shalmala'. Because these uncountable carvings, the place gets the name "Sahasra Linga" (thousand lingas). Every year on the day of 'Shivaratri' hundreds of people visit this place to worship Lord Shiva. When the water level is not high enough you can actually see all those carvings. Best time would winter and early summer. This place is on the way to Yellapur from Sirsi at about 17kms from Sirsi. After Bhairumbe you will have to get down at a bus-stop called Hul Gol bus-stop and walk towards Hulgol and from the main road it is around 2kms distance. Note: Fee includes Transportation, a simple vegetarian food (two breakfast, two lunch, one dinner ,one snack & coffee/tea) , simple night stay and expert guidance (from the reporting to the concluding part of the trek). Trekking is conducted in a non-luxurious environment in far villages, so you have to kindly adjust to the circumstances & infrastructure which is available there. We hereby request you not to litter plastics or any as such which will spoil the nature. Being the nature lovers its our duty to keep our mother earth clean.

CONFIRMATION OF PATICIPATION:
Confirmation is strictly made only against the payment. No Spot Registration. On receiving your payment, a confirmation email will be sent to your e-mail address. The participant must produce the duly filled registration form (available below the brochure) & confirmation email/message sent by our club at the time of report at the base camp. Confirmation must be obtained at least 4 days before the trekking Program i.e. before 18th March 2013. Confirm as earliest possible as the confirmation shall be done on the seniority basis.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
Friday 22nd March 2013 ( For the Trekkers starting from Bangalore ) Boarding the bus at sharp 7:00pm near Jayanagar 4th block bus-stop and 8:30pm near Navrang (Rajajinagar) Move to Sirsi via Shimoga and Sagar March:

Saturday 23rd

Reach Base camp between 5:30am 6:00am. Freshen up and have breakfast. Move to Benegao 8:00am, Start trek to Sirsi by 9am and return by 5:00pm to base-camp Fire camp, Entertainment, dance Programme, dinner and rest.

Sunday 24th March: Wake-up call at 6:00AM n Freshen up, have breakfast n get ready by 7:30am. Move to the famous Marikamba Temple.

Move to SahasraLinga and swimming in River SHALMALA. Have lunch, conclude the programme at 2pm & back to Bangalore/Shimoga.
