Title: Establishing a Running Clinic: More than a Treadmill and a Camera Presentation Type: 1 day preconference Section: Sports Physical Therapy Section, Private Practice Section Authors/ Institutions: D. S. Blaise Williams III, MPT, Ph.D. Bryan Heiderscheit, PT, Ph.D. Scott Miller, PT, MS, SCS, CSCS, TPI-CGFI Description: The purpose of this one-day preconference course is to assist the clinician with the development of a running clinic within their physical therapy practice. In addition to the equipment and space needs, details of marketing and management of the program will be discussed. Details regarding patient reports, physician reports, evaluation and treatment techniques will also be included. The overall goal of this program would be for the clinician to leave with everything they need to begin successful treatment of runners tomorrow. Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to: 1. Identify and compare various options for treadmills, cameras and software available for the evaluation of runners 2. Identify the most efficient and effective way of reporting information to patients and other health professionals 3. Identify the advantages and limitations of various camera setups (2D vs 3D) 4. Understand effective marketing techniques for a running clinic and determine appropriate pricing for products and services 5. Establish and maintain community partnerships and sponsors for the clinic 6. Identify which variables are most valid and reliable to evaluate in the runner and which intervention techniques are most effective and adoptable by the runner
