According to history, nursing profession first emerged as a job for male persons but was dominated by the female person and then claim as their profession. But Male or female, nurses receive the same basic education and training. Its just that simple. Just because a nurse is a male does not make him any better (or worse) when providing overall care to the patient. The study aimed to assess the performance of male nurses in selected hospitals in Batangas Province. Specifically, it sought to answer the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender , religion, socio economic status and type of hospital they was admitted. This study also aimed to assess the extent of the performance of male nurses in terms of as caring person; as information provider and as competent and skilled healthcare provider. The study tested the null hypothesis; there is no significant difference on the performance of male nurses based on the variables: As a caring person, As an information provider and As a competent and skilled healthcare provider. Based on the findings, the researchers have come up with a proposed program for professional development of nurses. The proposed program was entitled Better Caring Behavior, Knowledge and Competence for Improve Outcomes. The assessment of the performance of male nurses shows that the extent of performance of male nurses as a caring person is excellent, the extent of performance of male nurses as an information provider is very good and the extent of performance of male nurses as a competent and skilled healthcare provider is very good. There is a significant difference on the performance of the respondents in three variables mentioned It was recommended that it is possible to strengthen nurses commitment by improving the organization of work for opportunities for continuous professional training; increasing possibilities to influence the work.
