Literature group reading is due
Tuesday this week. Our group discussions
involving protagonists, antagonists, climax,
rising and falling actions were very
enlightening last session! The children were
able to give text evidence as to why some
characters were more important than
others and what events were the turning
points! We also have Thanksgiving readers
theatre plays and Daily 3 activities.
Some children will be taking DRAs
this week.

Writing

With this short week, we
will be writing Thanksgiving
stories. Our pen pal letters will
be completed and sent off on
Monday to Sherwood!

Math
Metric Olympics is scheduled for
Monday morning. The children will
participate in Olympic-style events, then
estimate and measure their results! We
have begun Unit 4 using big numbers,
estimating and long multiplication
strategies. We will review lattice and
partial products before heading into
traditional algorithm multiplication.
EVERYDAY MATH FAMILY LETTERS can
be found on-line this year! As in past years,
they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and
selected homework answers. You can find
these newsletters at:

grade/famlly-leLLers/ If you cannot access
them, please let me know.

Social Studies
This short week we will share our
family immigration histories as best as we
can since many of us have limited
knowledge of our ancestors. We will also
map them out on a huge world map to get a
visual of our past!
Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto
During our short week we will be
reviewing what weve learned about the
rock cycle and soil. After Thanksgiving
break week we will begin looking at the
concept of work and simple machines. We'll
being with a quick overview of all six simple
machines and then being doing experiments
on each individual machine over the next
few weeks. To learn more about work and
simple machines you can visit the following
