Introduction In today's world of computers, ethical hacking is certainly not an oxymoronic term and fighting against cybercrime is one of today's biggest necessities. It is always better to protect your system before it falls prey to a hacker. HackTricks at Techfest 2014 aims to reach out to each and every enthusiastic hacker all over the country for the same. Finalists for the HackTricks competition will be selected by zonal legs of the Ethical Hacking Outreach Program pan India. Before the competition, workshops shall be conducted with an aim of grooming the students with the fundamentals of ethical hacking and cyber security, which are no doubt the most exciting part of the event. The winners of the zonal rounds shall be invited to Techfest 2014 to participate in a grand finale. Then you stand a chance to be the champ and win laptop worth over INR 1 Lakh. Its not just a competition its a war among hackers. Participate in Hacktricks and prove your mettle! Format There will be two rounds in this event which are as follows: Preliminary Round: This round will be for all the participants who did not participate in any of the zonal rounds held across India. Zonal round winners are not allowed to participate in this round. Preliminary round will be conducted during the Techfest. It will consist of one surprise task/challenge related to hacking which will be disclosed 30 minutes before the start of the round. Participants who will perform the task or clear the challenge within a stipulated time (mentioned at the time of the competition) will be declared qualified for finale and only they will be allowed to participate in the final round and compete with the zonal winners. Finale: All the zonal round winners and those who have qualified in the prelims will be competing in finale. This round also will consist of a surprise task or a challenge which will be disclosed just before the starting of finale. Participant who will first perform the task or clear the challenge will be declared as the winner. In case, if no one is able to clear the round organizers hold full rights to declare another challenge (Tie breaker) and choose the winner.

Rules All participants have to abide by the rules of the event which are as mentioned below: Both the rounds will be time based, surprise task/challenge. Those who will perform the task or clear the challenge in given time in preliminary round will qualify for the final round. The participant who performs the task first or clears the challenge first will be declared as the winner of the finale. Participants can use any operating system, tools or scripts to participate in the competition. Participants can keep any number or size of reference material (Like ebooks or saved web pages) with them. Participants are not allowed to use internet from any source while competition is ongoing. Participants are allowed to use multiple Laptop, tablet or combination of both. Discussion or seeking help of any fellow participants is strictly prohibited. This is an individual event and participants cant work in groups. Laptop problems like Wi-Fi failures, OS failures, Hanging the system or crash will not be the organizers responsibility. Usage of hardware tools for performing the task or clearing the challenge is not allowed. No software will be provided by the organizers. Request for hardware support or arrangement will not be entertained. You can keep any number of hard copy of any book with you. There will be a deadline for task/challenge after that no requests in any form will be entertained. Anybody found wavering away from any of the above mentioned rules will be immediately disqualified.

Judging Those who will perform the task or clear the challenge in given time in preliminary round will qualify for the final round. The person who performs the task first or clears the challenge first will be declared as the winner of the finale. Decision of the judging panel will be final In case any conflict or disagreement arises, decision of organizers will be final.

Team Specifications Team participation is not allowed. It is a single participant event. Eligibility All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate. Certificate Policy Certificate of Excellence shall be given to the winner of the Finale. Certificate of Participation shall be given to all other participants of the Finale round.
