BLACK-OUT | BLACK-IN
Black Economic Movement

MISSION:
For the Black Community and those who support the Black Community to not participate in Black Friday with mainstream America (non-Black) businesses. And for the Black Community and those who support the Black Community to support Black owned businesses on Small Business Saturday.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this movement is to show unity amongst Blacks in America, and those individuals who support them. To combat the Social, Economic, and Legal injustice, we are proposing the Blacks in America to suspend the funding into the U.S. economic system. As the recent events regarding Black Community Housing Crisis, Black Unemployment Rate, the unfair and unbalanced criminal system, and the Not Guilty verdict of George Zimmerman for his involvement with the murder of Trayvon Martin has spark outrage among many in the Black community, the Black Out will serve as an opportunity to encourage, educate, and empower the Black Community. America was capitalistic, before it was a republic or a nation our strategies must include an economic component to maximize results.

FAQ:
Why Black Out?
Marches, Protest, and Rallies require physical participations and typically have a short-term impact. An Economic Black Out has the potential to last indefinitely, becoming a way of life for Blacks in America and allows many to participate. The Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted 381 days, which had dramatic economic impacts on the local community. We are proposing a systematic approach to permanently withdraw [Economic Sanction] our income from the mainstream economy. Blacks have been marching for centuries and have barely moved an inch. Marching does not injure the majority society. In fact, it does just the opposite. Black marches reward those who are kicking our butts. Blacks spend millions of dollars on hotels, airlines, restaurants, clothing stores, rental cars, and cabs while attending a march. Dr. Claude Anderson

How Long Will We Last?

We are proposing this Black-out for a single-day movement on November 29, 2013 (Black Friday). We would hope to sustain the movement indefinitely. As an individual or organization you may implement the Black Out earlier. We are proposing that we all analyze our consumer habits and spend money with businesses that support us. (The final Page of this document includes a questionnaire/survey from Dr. Claud Anderson) We are also proposing that individuals target Black Owned Businesses at least 1-Day out of the week (Saturday) on a routine basis.

How Do I Support?
There are several ways to support this initiative. 1. 2. 3. First and foremost, participate. Do not spend a single penny in the U.S. Economy with non-Black institutions on Black Friday. Share the movement with your Friends, Family, and Colleagues. Propose and Organize with the other individuals and organizations.

What Businesses to support?

Black owned businesses first and foremost. We are promoting this movement over several months to allow supporters to begin to locate Black owned businesses in their communities and abroad. We also encourage individuals to research, verify, and validate businesses that are non-Black, to ensure that they support Blacks in America.
