Executive Summary: The Library Board of Trustees and the Carmel Public Library Foundation

request City co-sponsorship of the Annual Donor Salute event on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Harrison Memorial Library. The Board of Trustees and the Carmel Public Library foundation also request Council authorization for the City Administrator to officially notify the City's insurance carrier of the co-spon sorship, and to close two parking spaces on the north side of Ocean Avenue at Lincoln Street to public use in order to provide valet parking service during the event.
Analysis/Discussion: The Donor Salute is held annually to thank Carmel Public Library

Foundation donors. The Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees approved the Carmel Public Library Foundation's request to hold the March 2, 2014 Donor Salute event in the Main Library at its August 28, 2013 regular meeting. City Policy C89-47 requires support groups to obtain City Council cosponsorship of events at which alcohol is served. The Carmel Public Library Foundation will also secure a Daily License Authorization from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for the event.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA AUTHORIZING CITY CO-SPONSORSHIP WITH THE LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND THE CARMEL PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION OF THE ANNUAL DONOR SALUTE WHEREAS, the Library Board of Trustees and the Carmel Public Library Foundation are requesting City co-sponsorship of the Annual Donor Salute on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Library; and WHEREAS, the City's Suppmi Groups Policy requires support groups to obtain City Council approval to cosponsor events at which alcohol is served; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to notify the City's insurance carrier of the co-sponsorship; and WHEREAS, valet parking will be provided and two parking stalls are needed to provide this service in a safe manner for the Donor Salute event: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES : 1. 2. Agree to cosponsor with the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees and Carmel Public Library Foundation the March 2, 2014 Annual Donor Salute. Authorize the City Administrator to notify the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees and Carmel Public Library Foundation of the Council' s concunence to co-sponsor the two events. Authorize the City Administrator to officially notify the City' s insurance canier ofthe co-sponsorship. Authorize the City Administrator to close two parking stalls on the north side of Ocean Avenue at Lincoln Street to public use during the March 4111 event.
