THE Garway Moon Inn, near Monmouth, is back in the hands of a local after a 400,000 investment supported by Barclays business. The village pub, which was bought by husband and wife Neil and Joanna Termets, fulfills a lifelong ambition for local girl Joanna to own this traditional inn which has been established since 1760. Joanna Termets, owner of The Garway Moon Inn, said I used to play in this pub as a child when my friends parents owned the business and have always had a strong connection to the building. I left Garway in 2000 to work on the cruise ships which is where I met Neil and we subsequently ended up married and living in South Africa, where we ran our own restaurant business. After having children and a number of violent crime related incidents including Neils father being paralysed, we realised that perhaps we needed a change of lifestyle so we decided to up sticks and return to Garway where Neil secured the position of bar manager at the pub. We made it clear that if the owners were ever looking to sell we would want first refusal and now we have the home, business and lifestyle we always wanted. Neil said: We offer a traditional country Inn with rooms. We try to run the business as one big family

Husband and wife Neil and Joanna Termets, new owners of The Garway Inn with a huge emphasis on quality of both the service and the locally sourced produce. Running a business is tough with no respite and being tied to the business 24 hours a day but the rewards far outweigh the downsides even after working 16 hour days. The gratitude of customers simply enjoying their lunch or guests returning week after week makes it all worthwhile. Emma King, Barclays business manager, said: As champions of local business, it is essential that we support new business ventures such as the Garway Moon Inn. By really understanding the business, Barclays has been able to support the business both financially and professionally throughout the acquisition. The plan is to create a destination pub with customers coming from everywhere.
