From the On behalf of the entire Honors faculty and staff, I want to wish each of you the best of luck on exams, a joyous holiday season, and a happy and healthy New Year. Please travel safe, and get some rest! We've had a great semester in the Honors College, and we're looking forward to a wonderful Spring! I want to thank all of you for your energy and ideas, and for your commitment to the Honors College. I also want to take this opportunity to thank the Honors Student Advisory Board, all the faculty and staff who work with Honors students, and especially Ricki Shine, Jamie Williams, Dana Irvin, Katie Bower, Lynn Reeves, Susan Falendysz, Wini Del Winkler, Chelsea Muhlhahn, Miriam Bernard, and Christopher Peele. Thanks for all you do to make the Honors College what it is. Finally, a word of personal parent-like advice from me (but I'm a parent, so I can't help it). Work hard over the next few weeks, but--despite everything you have to do--make time to eat well, sleep enough, and get some exercise. You--and your grades--will be better for it. All best wishes, - Dr. Lasser

Intensive and demanding, the Humanity in Action Fellowship brings together international groups of college students and recent graduates to explore national histories of discrimination and resistance, as well as examples of issues affecting different minority groups today. Each program is highly interdisciplinary, and features daily lectures and discussions with renowned academics, journalists, politicians, and activists, as well as site visits to government agencies, non-profit and community organizations, museums, and memorials. The programs seek to highlight different models of action to remedy injustice. The objective of the Humanity in Action Fellowship is to facilitate a collective exploration of the social and political roots of discrimination, as well as to create a forum where potential solutions can be considered and discussed. The programs are also intended to instill a responsibility among Humanity in Action Fellows to recognize and address the need to protect minorities and promote human rightsin their own communities and around the world. To this end, Senior Fellows, the alumni of the Humanity in Action Fellowship, are expected to participate in Humanity in Action's international network once their programs endand to sustain their engagement in the issues addressed during the fellowship.
