Interview questions Q Magazine

In this interview, there is an opening question How the devil are you? this question is a nice way to open the interview because it isnt a question about the band or artist, but just a general question about how the band is feeling. However the way he says the question sounds like quite old and upper class. The way the interviewer talks to the band is quite in-formal. Its quite chatty and doesnt seem awkward talking to the band, but like they are getting a long and the conversation is fluent. The questions asked are normally personal questions to that artist, usually about the performance they have recently done, a new album, a single, or other general information about that artist. They arent questions that could be asked to anyone, they are specific to that artist. This means that the interviewer would have to research the band or artist, to have an understanding of what questions to ask.

NME Magazine

Unlike the Q magazine interview, NMEs interviews dont have an opening question; they start the artist questions straight away. The questions asked are very specific to this artist, to the point where unless you were a fan of the artist being interviewed, you might not understand some of the questions being asked. However, because these questions are personal to the artist, the answers are usually quite long, and provide a lot of content for the interview. The question style is a balance on formal, and in-formal. Some of the questions are very informal and are asked as if they were written in a letter and others like the interviewer was talking to the artist like they were a friend.

Kerrang magazine Like the NME interviews, Kerrangs interviews dont have an opening question; they jump straight into the actual interview questions. The questions are again, specific to the artist. This means you would have to be an actual fan of the artist to get what the questions are about, and get a good understanding of what the answers are. In this case, the answers that the interviewer received quite short answers, this means that they have had to ask more questions to fill the page with content. The Way the questions are asked is quite in-formal, the interviewer seems quite calm and chilled, and that he gets along with the artists hes interviewing.
