Location: NEC, London. Objective: Development of an automated dimensioning tool for Mobile WiMAX that includes the design of link budget and the design of a GUI interface that acts as the front end for the link budget. The design of link budget included the calculation of maximum allowable path loss (MAPL). The cell

radius was calculated using the MAPL and three different propagation modelsSUI, Cost 231 HATA and the IMT Advanced ITU Model. The calculated cell radius was used for the estimation of coverage limited cell count along with the assumed service area parameters. The capacity planning was also carried out using the throughput with and without different MIMO configurations. The designed automation tool provided high flexibility and security for the network planning.
