Shared Reading
This week we read: If You Give A Mouse a Cookie If You Give A Moose a Muffin If You Give A Cat a Cupcake If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Give a Dog A Doughnut Pigs We are working all together to practice segmenting and writing letters. This has helped boost the childrens confidence in their writing. We will continue these journals for the next week and a half and then will begin the process of independent journal writing. Please be on the look for more information to come.

Homework:
This week your amazing little person has homework!! Please help your child fill out their job applications for our classroom jobs. Please return this by Tuesday September 2. Thank you for your time and patience helping your child with this project. You will also find a monthly homework calendar in your childs folder. Please, please, please take the time to work with your child each night. It will make a huge difference in their kindergarten year.

We learned all about authors and illustrators this week. Your child learned that authors write the words and illustrators draw the pictures. We also talked about fact versus fiction. We read a factual book about pigs. We made a Venn diagram comparing the two. We even discussed how we are going to be authors and illustrators each day in kindergarten. They are so excited!!!

This week we have been learning all about our names, our families, and what makes us special! Your sweet little people spent this week making self portraits. They worked very hard illustrating and writing about what makes them special. We also graphed our families. We made a bar graph showing how many parents, pets, brothers, sisters, and grandparents live with us.
