Honour Killing IS also a Cancer like Corruption

Nirmal Kumar Pandey* Honour Killing is defined as death sentence awarded and executed to a female of the family as a consequence of marrying against the wishes of her parents or having extra marital or premarital relationship or marrying within the same Gotra or outside of own caste or out of religion or dissimilarity in social and economic status. It means that Honour Killing is a physical and mental killing of women by their respective family members upon such circumstances we can say that the Honour Killing is a forceful persecution. !ow"a"days a spate of Honour Killin is prevalent in northern part of our country and it forcing the Government for bringing law to take stern legal action to stop the heinous crime. Honour Killing is different from dowry death which is also a very common practice in our country. #n case of dowry death the perpetrators claims that they have not been given cash and valuable articles as they desired for accepting the women in the family and large scale harassment from in"laws to the women and ultimate they either commit suicide or killed by in"laws$ %& have history of Honour Killings which appears to be worldwide. #n 'ome the Honour Killing was encouraged when male family members did not take action against the female adulterers in the family$ they were actively persecuted$ hence men could also be the victims of Honour Killings by members of the family of the women with whom they are perceived to have inappropriate relationship. #n other terms$ the Honour Killing applies to killing of both male and female in cultural practice.
