In1985,MauriceRoger,ChairmanofChristianDiorParfums,was determinedtopulloutallthestops.HedemandedaFragrance,aBottle, aName andaboveall,hedemandedareturntopurecreativity.Forthe fragrance,hecommissionedEdouardFlchier,anativeofGrasse,the traditionalcapitalofperfumery,whohadalreadyscoredaseriesofbig hits.Poison wouldreflectthestrong,generouspersonalityofitscreator. EdouardFlchier'sambitionwasto"composeacounterintuitiveoriental withveryfruitynotes,toplayoncontrastandexcesstoproducea provocative,daring,disturbingfragrance".Theamethystbottlewasthe perfectphialforthisnewessenceofseduction,themusthaveaccessory ofthe1980s.
