CREATE A SUCCULENT CENTERPIECE

MATERIALS clippers or oral knife 12-inch-diameter glass cake stand several handfuls of green sheet moss block of oral foam twelve to twenty cut owers, 2 to 4 inches in diameter, with sturdy stems a dozen or so rosette and other succulents as cuttings or in 2- to 4-inch
nursery pots

DIRECTIONS

1. Soak the oral foam in water until saturated, slice it into a cube, and position it off center on the plate.

2. Submerge the moss, squeeze it to get rid of excess moisture, and arrange
it around the foam.

3. Insert ower stems into the top and sides of the foam so its edges and
outward-facing sides are covered. Petals should touch or overlap.

4. Slide succulents from their nursery pots and shake excess soil from the
roots (or remove them).

5. Arrange the succulents on the plate, starting with the largest. Fill in with
smaller succulents and additional oral material.

6. Aim for an arrangement shaped like an inverted bowl. Rosette succulents

along the edge should face outward so the composition looks good from all sides. If a rosette or cutting is top-heavy, support it with moss or push its stem into the foam.

7. If blooms are vivid, repeat their color on the opposite side of the
arrangement for continuity and balance. Ideally use smaller owers that are the same color but a different size or shape. Instead of grouping, dot them.

8. If owers or greens not inserted in the oral foam are at risk of wilting,
insert their stems into thumb-sized pieces of soaked foam cut from the unused portion of the block.
