______________________________________________________________ #o not discharge compressed air in the direction of ourself$ others$ plant and equipment$ or areas with dust build up% &e'er use compressed air to clean clothes or cool ourself or others% #o not use compressed air to clean down work areas or equipment% #o not pla practical (okes with compressed air or use it to propel ob(ects at other persons% )ll couplings must ha'e safet clips fitted to them to pre'ent inad'ertent uncoupling when under pressure * ne'er use makeshift tie-wire% !nsure all components compl with the appropriate )ustralian Standard and are regularl maintained in a fit for purpose condition% Wear appropriate e e protection and hearing protection$% +nder no circumstances shall the pressure of the compressed air e,ceed the ma,imum working pressure of an of the components in use% The setting of safet 'al'es or reducing 'al'es shall onl be ad(usted b a competent person% -eep work areas clean through regular housekeeping acti'ities to minimise airborne dust le'els% Workers are to report all defects immediatel to the appropriate super'isor and cease the use of the defected equipment

.ompressors The following safet precautions are to be taken in regards to the operation of air compressors: )ir compressors are to be operated and maintained in accordance with the original equipment manufacturer instructions% !nsure air compressors are positioned in a stable position on a le'el surface prior to starting (e%g% chock wheels)% !nsure the air intake for the compressor is not e,posed to atmospheric contaminants$ e,haust fumes or e,cessi'e dust% !nsure petrol operated air compressors are used in a well 'entilated location% #o not o'erload the air compressor% )lwa s obser'e the ma,imum loading capacit of the compressor and attachments

/oses and components The following safet precautions are to be taken in regards to air hoses: !nsure all hoses and components are appropriatel rated to handle the ma,imum operating pressure of the air compressor% !nsure that hoses are protected from mobile plant and 'ehicle traffic with suitable positioning or co'er ramps% )lwa s release the pressure in air hoses and tools prior to uncoupling% &e'er kink or squash a hose to permit it$ or a tool attached to it$ to be uncoupled% )lwa s close the 'al'e to which the hose is connected when not in use%

)ll inspection and maintenance acti'ities are required to be documented (e%g% completed checklists$ ser'ice reports) and an defects promptl taken out of ser'ice and repaired or replaced% &o maintenance work is to be undertaken on air compressors or compressed air tools unless the equipment has been completel de-energised and locked out b the maintenance personnel
