KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA sacked its deputy

president Datuk Seri Dr chua Soi Lek last night.
This follows the party presidential council’s
endorsement of the disciplinary board’s recom-
mendation. Chua was found guilty of tarnishing
the party’s image.
“The presidential council has collectively made
a decision to accept the board’s recommendation to
expell Chua Soi Lek,” president Datuk Seri Ong Tee
Keat announced to the press shortly after midnight
after a five-hour meeting.
“We did so with a heavy heart after giving
much consideration to the damage inflicted upon
the party image brought about by his (Chua) sex
scandal featured in a DVD.
“This decision has been made in the best inter-
est of the party,” he said.
Ong said under Article 127 (A) of the party con-
stitution, Chua is allowed to appeal to the central
committee (CC) within 14 days from the date he
receives the decision of the council.
He said in accordance with Article 128, the deci-
sion of the CC on matters of discipline shall be final
and conclusive and shall not be subject to review
in any court of law.
“We, as members of the presidential council
will stand as one and we shall collectively be re-
sponsible for this decision.
“With respect to (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri
Najib Abdul Razak, as the chairman of the Barisan
Nasional, the party president will explain the deci-
sion of the presidential council,” he said.

PKA chairman accuses five of conspiracy

PUTRAJAYA: Port Klang Authority (PKA) chair-
man Datuk Lee Hwa Beng yesterday upped the
ante on the controversial Port Klang Free Zone
(PKFZ) project issue by lodging a report at the
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)
against three individuals and two companies
involving disputed claims amounting to RM740
million.
He submitted two voluminous dossiers
containing evidence on “disputable claims” and
“possible conspiracy” by Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd
(KDSB) and its president and chief executive
officer Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, former PKA
general manager Datin Paduka O.C. Phang, BTA
Architect and its head Bernard Tan Seng Swee,
the consultant appointed for the PKFZ develop-
ment works in those claims.
Lee arrived at the MACC headquarters at
2.30pm and was there for about 15 minutes.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Mohd
Shukri Abdull was seen entering the building
at 2.35pm.
On Aug 11, Lee had lodged a report at the
Klang police station over notices of payment
and other irregularities totalling RM657 million.
“Now, we have another RM740 million … so
there is a dispute in claims of RM1.4 billion,” he
told reporters.
Lee alleged that Phang had carried out
actions that were detrimental to PKA and ben-
eficial to PKFZ turnkey developer KDSB, and she
allegedly made unilateral decisions without the
approval of PKA board members.
He further claimed that Phang knew PKA
could not self-finance the purchase of the
PKFZ land but failed to alert the government or
take immediate steps to alleviate its financial
predicament.
