SUSLA STUDENTS GO TO THE MOVIES

The American History 104 and African American History 211 students attended the "12 Years A Slave" film with Prof. JoAnne Walker. The film provided relevant information on the topics of cotton picking, slave culture, free people of color in the north and how enslaved blacks in the south endured one of the harshest periods in Louisiana history, 1647-1865. Students received a critical thinking assignment which connects topics of history with what they visually witnessed in the form of a 3 page paper. This is just one highlighted off campus activity that seeks to promote SUSLA's mission of educational excellence at its best. We applaud our students for taking interest in our unique history!
