Chapter 1 Introduction
pan, tilt, and zoom can be performed by accessing cameras individually from the camera monitoring windows. Detailed Recording Schedule and Diverse Recording Modes For each camera or group, a recording schedule can be configured for image recording. Cameras can also be configured to begin recording when an alarm, such as a motion detection or an external sensor, is triggered. In addition, it is possible to record images manually from the camera monitoring window. Playback of recorded images uses the same controls as a video or DVD player, and it is also possible to playback an image while recording it. Detailed Settings for Camera Management and Control Camera groups can be configured for effective camera management, such as one for each area or floor where cameras are installed. For each camera, properties such as image quality and resolution can be configured, and camera controls such as pan, tilt, and zoom can be performed directly when an alarm or event occurs. Camera positions can also be preset and recalled when necessary. Motion Detection by Software RealShot Manager can be used to perform motion detection. Because the recording schedule can be configured to switch the motion detection setting by the hour, a variety of applications are possible, such as having the setting switch automatically between daytime and nighttime monitoring. In addition, RealShot Manager supports camera-based motion detection and object detection functions. Filtering Functions Using Camera Metadata Precise alarm processing is made possible by performing various types of filtering using the image processing results sent from the camera in the form of object information metadata. Because filtering can be applied to metadata that has already been recorded, you can also search for areas of interest after recording is finished.
Other Features Supports JPEG and MPEG4 formats. (But compatibility depends on which image compression formats are supported by the camera.) Audio from a camera microphone or other audio input device can be monitored, recorded, and played back. For each camera, the storage location for recordings can be specified. Multiple recordings can be played back simultaneously by specifying a playback start time. Alarm recording can be performed using the local storage on the camera. This ensures you capture a stable, high-quality image regardless of network conditions.

Chapter 1 Introduction
With RealShot Manager, up to 32 licensed cameras can be connected. However, because connecting the maximum number of cameras may adversely affect system performance, depending on your hardware and operating environment, be sure to test your system before operating RealShot Manager. The RealShot Manager license is a fixed-type license, permanently associated with the computer on which RealShot Manager is installed. Make sure to decide which computer will have RealShot Manager installed before purchasing a license. Also, if you change your hardware configuration after acquiring a license, the license file may become invalid. In that case, consult the local Sony dealer where you purchased your license.
Caution
When a camera is registered with and operated by RealShot Manager on one computer, do not register the same camera with another RealShot Manager running from a different computer or attempt to connect to it from a different Web browser.

Stay Duration and Move Duration for Camera Tours In RealShot Manager, the camera tour function is achieved by setting a stay duration and move duration for each position specified by a camera angle. The stay duration and move duration can be set in milliseconds in the Tours dialog box of RealShot Manager, but the actual pan and tilt speed of the camera is specified in levels, such as Level 1, Level 2, etc. If the duration specified in the Tours dialog box falls between levels when converted to a camera speed setting, the faster level is selected. For example, when the move duration from position A to position B is set at 25,000 milliseconds in the Tours dialog box, if this falls between the cameras Level 1 and Level 2 pan and tilt speeds, Level 2 is selected. In this case, although the camera arrives at position B earlier than you specified, RealShot Manager automatically lengthens the stay duration at position B by the amount of time the camera arrived early, so as to maintain the combined value of your specified stay and move durations.
Caution
If you set a speed value for [Move Duration] in the Tours dialog box that exceeds the physical limitations of the camera, the camera skips that position and moves to the next position in the tour. If it is determined that movement from position A to position B cannot be completed within the specified duration, the move to position B is skipped.

Alarm Function
You can perform a variety of actions automatically using the Alarms function of RealShot Manager. As shown in the diagram below, I/O pins act as triggers for alarms. In addition to physical I/O pins triggered by an input sensor signal, virtual I/O pins triggered by motion detection are also available.
Settings Required to Use Alarms When using the Alarms function, refer to the following items and make the required settings. To create an alarm recording schedule, you must associate a pin with the camera in advance. For details, refer to Registering an I/O Box (page 30). Configure the I/O pins needed to detect alarms. For details on configuring I/ O pins, refer to I/O Pin Properties Dialog Box (page 145). For details on image and audio recording, see Alarm Recording (page 66). For details on initiating actions, refer to Actions (page 74). For details on motion detection, refer to Motion Detection Function (page 59).

Note
Video Motion Detection (Recorder) is configured in the Device Properties dialog box or Camera Properties dialog box of the camera on which you want to perform motion detection processing. Video Motion Detection (Camera) is configured from the cameras I/O box. When using Video Motion Detection, make sure to test it before operating RealShot Manager. Video Motion Detection (Recorder) only supports motion detection. Video Motion Detection (Recorder) places a high processing load on the computer, so make sure to check your systems performance before using it. When many cameras are connected, consider using Video Motion Detection (Camera) instead. Whether Video Motion Detection (Camera) supports both motion detection and object detection differs depending on the camera. Video Motion Detection (Camera) cannot be used with the SNC-VL10 and video network stations other than the SNT-V704.
59
To perform motion detection and object detection using metadata, a camera that supports motion detection by metadata is required. A VMF package can only process the live camera image of one camera at a time. However, it is possible to simultaneously use separate packages for search and playback. When metadata is recorded, either motion detection metadata or object detection metadata is selected, based on the VMF being applied at the time. The order of priority is determined as follows: 1 If something has been specified in the alarm recording schedule, priority is determined by whether the VMF package is for motion detection or object detection. 2 If a VMF package is not specified, priority is determined based on the default package. 3 If a default package is not specified either, the metadata is recorded as motion detection metadata. Object detection requires an approximately 40 second initialization period before starting. Overview of Motion Detection by Camera Image Metadata
* Metadata includes time and camera information, and location, type, and status of motion.
Creak an I/O box for the camera you are using. In the tree structure on the left, drag and drop the camera to an I/O box. The camera is added to the I/O box, and the I/O pins configurable for that camera are created.

Recording
With RealShot Manager, you can record images from a camera using the following methods. Manual Recording Record the image feed from the current camera using the [Recorder] toolbar. Schedule Recording For each camera or group, you can set a recording schedule to perform recording at regular intervals. Schedule recording can be set for normal recording and alarm recording. Normal Recording Records images from cameras at regular intervals according to the set schedule. Alarm Recording Begins recording in response to input signals (alarms) from an external device to an I/O device. For details, refer to Manual Recording (page 62) and Schedule Recording (page 62). Also, for details on alarm recording, refer also to Alarm Recording (page 66). Record Segmenting in Continuous Long-Term Recording When you record continuously over a long period (such as from 00:00 to 24:00 every day for a long time), the number of configuration files for a record may exceed 10,000*. When this happens, the record is segmented, and subsequent data is recorded as a new record.
* The number 10,000 is the total number of files since recording started. It includes files that are deleted with the cleanup and data overwrite functions.
Schedule Recording
For each camera or group, you can set a recording schedule to perform recording at regular intervals. There are two methods for setting schedules: a recurrent schedule, which repeats one weeks worth of actions, and a date & time schedule, which executes actions for a specific date and time. The following actions and events can be set for recording schedules. Setting Items Available in the Schedule Editor Window Monitoring Normal Recording Alarm Recording Pre-Alarm and Post-Alarm Recording
Notes
Different frame rates can also be set for recording and monitoring. For example, you could set monitoring to 20 fps and recording to 5 fps. If the resolution is set to 320288 dpi for normal recording and 720576 dpi for monitoring, the resolution of images imported from the camera becomes 720576 dpi. Normally, images imported from cameras use the maximum frame rate and resolution values for all actions during operation. Events Available for Recording Schedules The following events can be set for recording schedules: Automatic Recording Cleanup Video Motion Detection (Recorder) Schedule
Notes
The time period segmented will differ depending on the frame rate and resolution. Ex.)
Conditions Codec Resolution Frame rate Image quality Size of 1 file : JPEG : VGA : 10 fps : 50% : 50 MB
The events that can be set will vary depending on the settings of RealShot Manager. For details on deleting recorded data automatically, refer to Setting a Schedule for Deletion (Cleanup) (page 87). Camera Resolution Settings for Schedule Recording When multiple schedules with overlapping time slots are configured for a single camera in the Schedule Editor window, the schedule with the highest resolution setting is used for all recordings. For example, if alarm recording and normal recording are scheduled to overlap for the same time slot and the normal recording schedule has the higher resolution setting, both alarm recording and normal recording are performed at the higher resolution setting.
Approx. 19 days
When recording continuously over long periods, we recommend segmenting the record by setting a recording schedule that inserts a 1-second recording break each day. For details, refer to Setting a Recording Schedule (page 63).

User Management
You can register a user name with RealShot Manager, set function permissions for login and all other functions, and manage other users of RealShot Manager. For details, refer to the following sections. Registering Users (page 81) Register users with RealShot Manager, and set login passwords and access permissions for each function. After registering the users, each user will be required to enter a user name and password each time they access RealShot Manager. Setting a User Group (page 83) You can set user groups and grant access permissions for each group. When you grant permissions to a user group, users can acquire those permissions just by being added to the user group. Details on Access Permissions (User Manager Dialog Box (page 160)) This section describes in detail the access permissions you can grant to users and user groups. Logging In to RealShot Manager (page 85) Users are required to enter a user name and password when logging into RealShot Manager. Changing a User Password (page 85) Users can change their own login passwords.

When RealShot Manager is launched, it starts up in the No User state with no user logged in. When RealShot Manager is first installed, all permissions are granted to the No User account. If you are not going to configure user management, you can use RealShot Manager with the No User account. If a new user is created, the No User permissions are set to the Default Permissions on the [General] tab in the [User Manager] dialog box. Take care not to forget user passwords. If you forget the password for a user, the actions permitted only to the affected user can no longer be performed. If the User Manager permission has not been granted to any user (including the No User account), RealShot Manager operates as though all users have the User Manager permission. Because the screen layout is not stored for each user, the screen layout does not change when a user logs in. Also, RealShot Manager displays at startup the last screen layout that was open before the software was exited.
Notes
If no user accounts are registered with RealShot Manager, all functions can be accessed without logging in. If even one user account is registered, unregistered users can only access the minimum functions.

Deleting Recordings
The following methods for deleting stored recordings from cameras and audio devices are available. Deleting Recordings Manually (page 86) You can manually delete recordings stored on cameras and audio devices. Setting Conditions for Regular Automatic Deletion (Cleanup & Data Overwrite) (page 87) You can specify the disk capacity limit or the number of days recordings are stored before automatic cleanup is performed. Cleanup This function deletes data after a certain number of days have passed. Data Overwrite This function deletes from the oldest data, regardless of how many days it has been stored, to ensure constant storage capacity. Setting a Schedule for Deletion (Cleanup) (page 87) You can set a schedule to automatically delete stored recordings.
Note
1 2
To display the Search Recording window, click (Search Recording) at the top of the main screen or (Search) in the [Playback] toolbar. Select the recording that you want to delete, and click (Delete Recording) at the top of the screen. You can also select multiple recordings at once by holding down the Shift key or Ctrl key while selecting.
The cleanup function can also be used to delete recordings stored on a remote server. Such recordings, however, cannot be deleted manually from the Search Recording window.
Caution
The cleanup function deletes recordings but does not delete comments. To delete comments, use (Delete Comment) on the Search Recording window. The cleanup function requires enough free disc capacity to store at least one days worth of recordings, because one day is the smallest unit that can be specified as a condition for deletion. If one days worth of disc capacity is not available, the available capacity will fill up before cleanup can be executed, making further recording impossible. If you want to keep at least one days worth of recordings after cleanup, you must have at least two days worth of free disc capacity. You can use the following formula to compute the disc capacity required for recordings: Capacity required per image frame fps (frames/ second) duration (in seconds) number of cameras Ex.) If VGA images at compression level 5 (30 KB/ frame) are recorded at 30 fps with 2 cameras using 24-hour continuous recording, the capacity required for one days worth of recordings is:

Double-click the storage location you wish to set automatic cleanup for, and display the Storage Location dialog box. Set the conditions for deletion, and click [OK]. For Cleanup Select the check box labeled [Run cleanup job, when], and set the conditions for running a cleanup job. For Data Overwrite Select the check box labeled [Enable], and enter the remaining disk capacity limit in percent or megabytes.
For details on each setting, refer to Storage Location Dialog Box (page 150).
Caution
For details on each item, refer to Cleanup Recordings Dialog Box (page 126).
When remaining disc capacity falls below the specified amount, if none of the stored data has exceeded the specified number of days for storage, cleanup is not executed.
Setting Conditions for Regular Automatic Deletion (Cleanup & Data Overwrite)
To make sure there is a set amount of storage space available, you can specify the disk capacity limit or the number of days recordings are stored before automatic cleanup is performed.
Click (Setup Manager) at the top of the main screen to display the Setup Manager window.
With a cleanup schedule, automatic deletion is executed only once at the specified start time. In addition, when setting multiple cleanup schedules, if the end time of the first schedule coincides with the start time of the next,
Deleting Recordings

the two are regarded as one, and automatic deletion is not executed at the start time of the second schedule. Cleanup does not stop until it finishes, even if the scheduled end time occurs while cleanup is executing. To perform cleanup every day, set one cleanup schedule for each day of the week. But make sure to leave at least a 1-second break between one schedule and the next. Cleanup starts at the specified start time. Therefore, cleanup will not begin immediately if you set the start and end times so they span the current moment in time. In this case, cleanup will be performed the next time the start time occurs. When recording and cleanup are being performed in tandem, some frames may be dropped without being recorded, depending on the I/O load on the disc. Perform cleanup when the recording load is light. Click (Schedule Editor) at the top of the main screen to display the Schedule Editor window. In the tree structure on the left, select the camera or group that you want to set for automatic recording cleanup. Click (View as Week) or top left of the screen. (View as List) at the

same as the name set for [Storage Locations] in the Setup Manager window of RealShot Manager. For example, when the storage location name in RealShot Manager is the default value of Default, make the shared folder name specified for Windows file sharing Default, too.
On the client computer, map the storage location folder on the server as a network drive.
Client (Controller)
Recorded image, audio, and other data is saved on the server. The following are the roles and required settings for each RealShot Manager computer on the server-client system. Standard This computer acts as a server on the system. To permit operation by clients, configure the computer sharing (page 168) and camera sharing (page 141) properties. Controller This computer acts as a client on the system. For use as a controller, first register a server to be shared on the remote server (page 35).
Caution
Mapping a Camera to the Local Drive of a Client (Controller) When a camera is viewed from a client, it is actually a physical camera connected to the remote server (a remote camera), but a camera mapped to the local drive of the client is a logical camera. Logical cameras mapped to the local drive of a client with RealShot Manager are called mapped cameras. Because a mapped camera is handled differently than a remote camera, the mount angle of the remote camera does not apply to the mount angle of the mapped camera. The orientation of the image sent from the server corresponds to the 0 mount angle of the mapped camera. As a result, changing the mount angle of the mapped camera has no effect on the remote camera image, but changing the mount angle of the remote camera changes the orientation of the mapped camera image. If you want to record to a storage location on the client computer using a mapped camera, you must configure the storage location. When the storage location is not configured, recordings are stored on the server. The appearance of MAN REC and SRV MAN REC during manual recording differs depending on the operating procedure. To confirm that mapped camera recording is actually being performed in this case, browse the recorded data for the applicable mapped camera from the Search Recording window.
Caution
When connecting to a server (Standard) via proxy from a client (Controller) or from a third-party application that uses the RealShot Manager API, use a standard Microsoft Windows proxy. The use of other proxy servers is not supported. Displaying Thumbnails From a Client To display thumbnail images of recordings stored on a server, the following settings are required.
Mapped cameras do not support VMF-related functions. In addition, when a mapped camera is registered, VMFrelated displays may not appear on the remote camera. If you want to use VMF, do not register a mapped camera.
Configure file sharing for the storage location folder on the server computer so that the folder can be shared with the client computer. When configuring sharing, make sure the shared folder name specified for Windows file sharing is the

User settings not supported. Any settings will be ignored. For details, refer to SNT-V304 Frame Rate Limitations (When setting [Interval] on the SNT-V304) (page 182).
(*1) It is possible to set values that convert (truncating any decimal fractions) to the Available Camera Frame Rate Settings, and values that are greater than the maximum available frame rate setting on the camera when converted (because the maximum frame rate is used instead).
Caution
When a converted value (truncating any decimal fractions) falls between two Available Camera Frame Rate Settings, it is ignored and the camera setting does not change. (*2) If the value exceeds the processing frame rate set on the camera, the processing frame rate set on the camera is used. (*3) If the value exceeds the maximum available frame rate setting on the camera, the maximum frame rate is used.
Notes
The frame rate of received data will fluctuate depending on network traffic and the processing load on the computer. When you specify 0 ms in the Setup Manager window, or All in the Recorder toolbar or Schedule Editor window, the maximum available frame rate setting on the camera is used. To change the processing frame rate of the camera, connect directly to the camera from a Web browser, etc.
Stream Mode With stream mode, RealShot Manager requests a continuous stream of images from the camera. The maximum frames per second transfer speed can be achieved. The camera controls the output of frames so a continuous stream is produced with no missed frames and no duplicate frames. Transfer of images is possible through a proxy server.
Caution
In stream mode, a large number of images is requested continuously. A busy server must retrieve all the streamed images from an incoming buffer, leaving it with reduced CPU capacity for other processing. Non-Stream Mode With non-stream mode, RealShot Manager requests images from the camera one frame at a time.
Caution
The SNT-V304 automatically switches to stream mode based on the current interval and frame rate (If the interval is 40ms or less, stream mode activates automatically). Stream mode for the SNT-V304 is shown as enabled but greyed-out, i.e. read only. When using non-stream mode, set the interval for frame acquisition to 1,000 milliseconds or more. The frame acquisition interval can be set under [Interval] on the [Picture] tab (page 132) of the Device Properties dialog box or on the [Picture] tab (page 132) of the Camera Properties dialog box.
Before using the SNT-V704, make sure to select the [Stream Mode] check box.

Old Firmware
RealShot Manager supports multiple firmware versions for the SNC-VL10 and the SNT-V304.
is the international telephony standard for encoding telephone audio on a 64 kbps channel. It is a pulse code modulation (PCM) scheme operating at an 8 kHz sample rate, with 8 bits per sample. 2) ITU-T G.726 is the most used speech-compression algorithm in telecommunications due to its high perceived speech quality and low resource requirements. It compresses 64 kbps speech to 40 kbps, 32 kbps, 24 kbps, or 16 kbps using adaptive differential pulse-code modulation (ADPCM).
Other Precautions
When a PAL camera is connected to the SNT-V704, the maximum resolution on the [Picture] tab in the Camera Properties or Device Properties dialog boxes is shown as 720 480, but this corresponds to 720 576 on the SNT-V704. With a PAL camera, the position of a motion detection area may shift. Make sure to configure the motion detection area before using motion detection. Except for the SNC-RZ30, SNC-Z20, and SNC-CS3, images that appear in the Video Motion Filter Package

Note
The image display speed and the recording speed are different. For example, it is possible to display at 2 fps images that were recorded at 25 fps.
To Improve Image Quality The following methods are effective. When [Scale To Window] is turned on in the right-click menu, turn on [Smart Scale] and [Smooth Scaling] as well. Raise the value set for [Resolution] or [Image Quality] on the [Picture] tab in the Camera Properties dialog box. However, be careful when doing this, as it may effect the performance of the system. In particular, the maximum frame rate for recording or display may be reduced. The reduction in performance caused by improving the image quality on one camera may also affect recording or monitoring in progress on other cameras. Turn off [Scale To Window]. However, this will reduce the size of the image on the screen, because you will see the image at the actual resolution (size) it is imported.
190
Set the camera resolution and image quality on the [Picture] tab in the Camera Properties dialog box. For details, refer to [Picture] tab (page 132).

FAQ
Can I use different versions of RealShot Manager on the server (Standard) and client (Controller)? When combining multiple versions of RealShot Manager on servers and clients within a single system, the first three digits of the version number must be the same. The fourth digit can be different. Ex.) Correct combination (first 3 digits match): RealShot Manager Standard version 3.0.0.15 with RealShot Manager Controller version 3.0.0.13 Incorrect combination (first 3 digits differ): RealShot Manager Standard version 2.3.1.36 with RealShot Manager Controller version 3.0.0.15 In addition, because the security function was strengthened starting with RealShot Manager version 2.2, user authentication is now performed when connecting to the server in a server-client configuration. As a result, you cannot connect to a system running RealShot Manager version 2.2 or later from applications created using the RealShot Manager API of version 2.1 or earlier. Can I install a previous version of RealShot Manager while carrying over my current settings? RealShot Manager does not support downward installation of previous versions. Therefore, you cannot overwrite a RealShot Manager installation with an older version while carrying over your current settings. To install an older version of RealShot Manager, you must first uninstall and delete the current version. How do I set up a computer with multiple network cards as a RealShot Manager server? Configure the following settings for the computer to be used as a RealShot Manager server:
Can I continue to use the I/O box for my SNT-V704 camera after updating RealShot Manager to version 3.3.0? If you update RealShot Manager to version 3.3.0 from a previous version and all of the following conditions apply, delete the I/O box for your SNT-V704 and then create it again after updating the software. When carrying over an I/O box from RealShot Manager version 3.3.0 or earlier When using the motion detection function When the camera name and I/O box name are different The application menu bar isnt visible, how do I display it? Press Shift + F11 on the keyboard to toggle the menu bar on and off. The main toolbar isnt visible, how do I display it? Select [Main Toolbar] in the [View] menu. If the menu bar is not visible, press Shift + F11 on the keyboard to make it visible. An Error... message appears and images cannot be recorded. Why does this happen? In operating environments where other applications are executed while RealShot Manager is running, the following error messages may appear. In this case, recording may not be possible or frames may be dropped from recorded images. Error File Recorder (C11(camera model name)) File Port Send: Timeout during Wait Error File Recorder (C11(camera model name)) File Port Flush: Couldnt flush xxxxxx bytes to file (recording file path name) Error File Recorder (C11(camera model name)) File Port Send: Timeout during Wait Error File Recorder (C11(camera model name)) File Port Flush: Couldnt flush xxxxxx bytes to file (recording file path name) Error Ring Buffer Add: Had to remove locked data for C7(camera model name) To avoid these errors, make sure that recording schedules in RealShot Manager do not overlap with times when the computers antivirus software is scheduled to run. Searches of recently recorded data take a long time. Is there a way to speed this up? Because RealShot Manager uses a Microsoft Windows database, each time you query the database, such as by searching recorded data, the database area increases, and the added area is not automatically deleted. As a result, when you use RealShot Manager, the unnecessary area of the database increases, and the search speed may slow down. If the upper limit on area is reached, moreover, recorded data may be damaged. To prevent this, periodically perform optimization on the database using Microsoft Access or functions in Windows.
In the [Name] field under [Sharing] on the [Computer Sharing] tab (page 168) in the General Settings dialog box, enter a name that differs from the computer name (host name). Open the hosts text file located in the directory (Windows system folder)\system32\drivers\etc\ and insert the following line: (IP address of the network card used by RealShot Manager) (File sharing name) Ex.) When 192.168.0.100 is the IP address of the network card you want to use for RealShot Manager and RSM is entered for [Name] under [Sharing], add the following line: 192.168.0.100 RSM
FAQ
191
Thumbnails are slow to display in the Search Recording window. Is there a way to speed this up? When performing long-term continuous recording (such as a 24-hour continuous recording schedule), with the storage period for recordings set to 1 month or more, if you insert a 1-second recording break each day, thumbnails will be faster to display. Ex.) For a schedule set to record from 0:00:00 each day to 0:00:00 the next day, change the recording time to run from 0:00:00 to 23:59:59 on the same day.
* The 1-second period from 23:59:59 to 0:00:00 is not recorded.
In a server-client configuration, will changing the clock on the server cause problems? In a server-client configuration, turning back the clock on the server may nullify output control from the client for remote I/O box output pins. If the clock was only turned back for a short amount of time, the system may recover quickly, but if turned back for a long time it may not recover. To restore the system, restart RealShot Manager on either the server or the client. When I try a VMF search for a specific time frame that includes recording results which a VMF search should find, the desired data is not found. Why does this happen? With a VMF search, recordings that do not contain metadata are ignored. As a result, if the specified time frame includes recordings with no metadata, information about those recordings will not appear. Also, information is not shown for recordings when the VMF search type (motion detection or object detection) does not match the metadata type (motion detection or object detection). For example, a search that applies an object detection VMF to motion detection metadata will return no results. Check the [VMF Available] column in the list of recordings to determine whether a VMF search is possible for the desired recordings.
How many licenses are required when using a video network station? The number of licenses required differs depending on your video network station (analog camera converter box). SNT-V704 & SNT-V304 The number of camera licenses required is the same as the number of analog cameras connected to the video network station. For example, when you connect four analog cameras to the SNT-V704, four camera licenses are required. SNT-V504 Regardless of the number of analog cameras connected, only one camera license is required. Up to four analog cameras can be connected to the SNTV504, but because the image streams of the connected cameras cannot be retrieved individually, the SNT-V504 is regarded as one camera. Are some functions restricted when using the SNT-V704? When using the SNT-V704, the following functions are not supported in RealShot Manager: Four-panel split display Color level modification Camera tour function Zoom functions with T/W on the [Pan & Tilt] toolbar Dynamic masking function To use dynamic masking, configure it directly by connecting to the SNT-V704 from a Web browser. What will happen if the date & time setting of the camera differs from that of the computer? RealShot Manager will, if necessary, overwrite the date & time setting of the camera with the date & time of the computer running RealShot Manager. After updating to RealShot Manager version 3.1 or later, why cant stream mode be turned off when dynamic masking is configured? In RealShot Manager version 3.0, stream mode could be turned off even when dynamic masking had been configured. In RealShot Manager version 3.1 onward, when dynamic masking is configured, stream mode is automatically set and can no longer be turned off.

FAQ
Glossary
Aspect Ratio This is the relationship between the width and height of a displayed image. Usually expressed as width:height. For example, television pictures are usually referred to as having a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. bmp This is the file extension for Windows bitmap image files. Debug This is the process of removing errors from software or a particular mode of running the software that reports the internal state. DIPS This is the number of images displayed per second in the camera monitoring window. DSN Data Source Name. This is the published name of a database that allows other applications to connect to it. eye Wavelet format video files have the extension .eye. The term Wavelet refers to a mathematical function frequently used in compression (especially image compression). Wavelets can achieve high compression ratios. Wavelet image formats can compress images to 1/4 the size of a comparable JPEG (See JPEG). FPS Frames Per Second. This specifies how frequently images should be acquired from the camera. In a Phase Alternate Line (PAL) system, frames are composed of two interlaced fields of video and the playspeed frame rate is 25 fps. GUI Graphical User Interface. This is a description of an operational interface for a software application that uses multiple windows with toolbars of icons and menus. This kind of interface is predominantly designed for navigation using a mouse rather than a keyboard. I/O Input/Output IP Internet Protocol. This is the language that computers on the Internet use to communicate with each other (See TCP/ IP).
JPEG/jpg JPEG is an acronym for Joint Photographic Experts Group, the organization that developed the JPEG file format. JPEG format video files have the extension .jpg. JPEG is a type of graphics file that uses compression to reduce file size (and therefore, transmission times). JPEG files will not give a perfect reproduction of the source file since the compression mechanism causes loss of resolution in some areas of the image. Therefore it is not common in medical applications. However JPEG files are a good choice for web based photographic graphics that need to be small. MPEG/mpg MPEG is an acronym for Motion Picture Experts Group, the organization that developed the MPEG file format. MPEG format video files have the extension .mpg. MPEG is a set of standards for video and audio files that use complex compression to reduce file size (and therefore, transmission times). The particular part of the MPEG standard implemented by the SNC-P1 camera is MPEG4, with both I-frame (intra-frame or single frame) compression and P-frames (much smaller than I-frames, predictive frames contain difference information based on motion prediction between frames). This leads to much smaller file sizes than I-frame-only compression but means that decoding is a longer and more complex process. For example, to display P-frame number 20 (with only one I-frame every 25 frames) the previous 19 frames must be decoded, starting from the last I-frame. ODBC Open Database Connectivity. This is a protocol used to make a database based on Structured Query Language (SQL) access available to software applications without detailed knowledge of the structure of the database. An ODBC data source is a database protected by an extra layer of software that handles all communications with the database according to the ODBC standard. Proxy In networking, a proxy server is a dedicated PC or other computer that communicates with a wider network on behalf of a group of user PCs. The proxy server hides the IP details of the group that uses it and acts as a cache for frequently accessed information. PTZ Pan, Tilt, and Zoom. This refers to the capability of the camera head to move in 3 dimensions: Horizontally : Pan Vertically : Tilt. In and Out : Zoom.
