Large Group- Jack and Jill Name: Megan Peters Day of the Week: Monday, March 11th Domain:

Language, Cognitive (Science) Developmental Objective: Children will recognize that the nursery rhyme contains rhyming words. Children will understand and predict that some objects will sink and float. Content Objective: Sink- to drop to the bottom (tends to be heavy). Float- stay above the surface of water (tends to light). Rhyme- similar sounds at the end of a word Agenda Outline: 1. Morning Song 2. Jobs 3. Sing Jack and Jill 4. Sink/float object 5. Review message board and schedule 6. Dismiss to small groups Beginning: Sing The Hello Song, go over jobs: count children, weekly calendar (sing There are seven days and post picture of school or home), go over monthly calendar (talk about the month, count the number of days and determine what number is next, recognize and state pattern), weather (sing what is the weather, the weather is and fill out weather graph). Middle: Introduce the Nursery Rhyme Poster. Discuss with the children that Nursery Rhymes are a short story that have words that rhyme. Sing Jack and Jill: Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown, And Jill came tumbling after. After singing the Nursery Rhyme a few times ask the children if they have ever rolled down a hill and what that was like. Then bring up the pail of water and bring out your own pail of water. Explain to the children that you have a few objects and your wondering if they will sink or float (go over definitions from above). Have the child make predictions then sort the objects (sink or float) and after going through each object ask the children if they notice similarities between the floating and then sinking objects. Tell the children when it is time to go outside they are going to be rolling down the hill just like Jack and Jill! End: Have the news helper go over the news and review the daily schedule. Dismiss to small groups by having them think of an animal to act like.

Ways children will participate: Singing along with the nursery rhyme, make predictions, and state similarities. Props I will use: Book- Jack and Jill lyrics, Bucket (Pail), and sink float objects MDE Standard: Language- 3.3. Experiment and play with sounds. Science- 1.3. Talk about their own predictions, explanations and generalizations based on past and current experiences MSU Objective: Language- 47. Read familiar or memorized nursery rhymes, songs, poems, and plays. Cognitive- 2. b. Predict what they think will happen on the basis of a hypothesis. 3. c. Evaluate predictions Extension: Have children roll down the hill outside (during outside time).

Large Group- Humpty Dumpty Name: Megan Peters Day of the Week: Tuesday, March 12th Domain: Language, Cognitive (Science) Developmental Objective: Children will recognize that the nursery rhyme contains rhyming words. Children will notice the reaction to an egg falling. Content Objective: Rhyme- similar sounds at the end of a word. Eggs- can crack open and the yoke will come out. Eggs are from chickens and we can create different types of meals with eggs. Agenda Outline: 1. Morning Song 2. Jobs 3. Review Nursery Rhyme poster 4. Sing Humpty Dumpty with props 5. Discuss properties of an egg 6. Review message board and schedule 7. After singing the Nursery Rhyme a few times ask the children why the kings horses and men couldnt put Humpty Dumpty back together. Discuss properties of an egg (see above) with children asking questions and commenting on their prior experiences. End: Have the news helper go over the news and review the daily schedule. Dismiss to small groups by having them think of an animal to act like. Ways children will participate: Singing along with the nursery rhyme, discussing the properties of an egg. Large Group- Hickory Dickory Dock Name: Megan Peters Day of the Week: Wednesday, March 13th Domain: Language, Cognitive (Math) Developmental Objective: Children will recognize that the nursery rhyme contains rhyming words. Children will be able to recognize numbers. Children will be able to create predictions. Content Objective: Rhyme- similar sounds at the end of a word. Agenda Outline: 1. Morning Song 2. Jobs 3. Review Nursery Rhyme poster 4. Sing Hickory Dickory Dock with felt board 5. Mouse hiding house game 6. Review message board and schedule 7. Dismiss to small groups Beginning: Sing The Hello Song, go over jobs: count children, weekly calendar (sing There are seven days and post picture of school or home), go over monthly calendar (talk about the month, count the number of days and determine what number is next, recognize and state pattern), weather (sing what is the weather, the weather is and fill out weather graph). After singing the Nursery Rhyme a few times, discuss with the children about clocks and that there are numbers on them. Then introduce the mouse game. There will be four houses with different numbers on them (9, 11, 7, 10) and the when the children close their eyes the mouse will hide behind one and they have to guess where the mouse is by identifying the number. End: Have the news helper go over the news and review the daily schedule. Dismiss to small groups by having them think of an animal to act like. Ways children will participate: Singing along with the nursery rhyme, predicting what house the mouse is under by verbalizing the number Props I will use: Hickory Dickory Dock lyrics, Felt board props, felt houses and mouse

Group- Mary had a Little Lamb Name: Megan Peters Day of the Week: Thursday, March 14th Domain: Language, Affective Developmental Objective: Children will recognize that the nursery rhyme contains rhyming words. Children will be able to recognize that other children have pets. Content Objective: Rhyme- similar sounds at the end of a word. Pet- an animal that someone takes care of Agenda Outline: 1. Morning Song 2. Jobs 3. Review Nursery Rhyme poster 4. Sing Mary had a Little Lamb with felt board 5. Discuss the childrens pets 6. Review message board and schedule 7. Then ask what they would think about bringing their pet to school like Mary did. Create a list of pets and have the children notice that some of them have similar pets.
