TIENTSIN HANDY BOOK - 1927

The favorite recipes of members of

Tientsin Woman’s Club

Had it not been for Dana Robinson of Juno Beach, FL, who
as a boy attended Tientsin American School, this marvellous
treasure assembled by Tientsin Woman’s Club in 1927 would
surely have vanished into oblivion.

Though the ravages of time had defaced its cover, decayed

its binding, yellowed its pages, and faded its print almost
beyond recognition, Dana knew that it must still continue
to hold considerable interest to anyone from Tientsin. So in
2003 he sent it to me, Desmond Power of West Vancouver,
BC, Canada.

On piecing together its contents, I felt I must try to save this

rare gem from further decay. I obtained permission from
Dana to scan it into my computer and enhance what I could
of its faded pages, and if successful, print it out for anyone
interested in Tientisn’s history.

So here it is, in reasonable enough condition to read. The

original is made up of 161 pages including 23 pages of ad-
vertisements. Since each page is comprised of a jpg image,
I might be exceeding the maximum space allowed by my
Blog or Scribd accounts if I put up the entire collection on
the Internet. So I’ll be showing only a part of it. If any reader
wants more, I’ll see what I can do.
