SUBJECT: Nominations - Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission seeks to maintain positive human relations in

Escambia County through resolution of civil rights related cases and incidents. It also
administers the City's fair housing ordinance.

The Commission is composed of nine members. Four members are appointed by

City Council, four members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and one
member is appointed by the other eight members. Members serve for a term of two years.
MEMBERS ARE NOT REQillRED TO BE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY.

Term of Ms. Sherri Myers, Mr. James Thompson, and Pastor Sylvia Tisdale will
expire September 30, 2009. All have indicated an interest in being considered for
reappointment.

A list of the current City Council appointees to the Commission is attached for
Council's information. Nomination forms are also attached for Council's use.

Nomination forms should be submitted to the City Clerk's office by 12:00 Noon,
Friday, September 11, 2009 for consideration at the Committee of the Whole meeting on
September 21, 2009.
