Fitting a new FUEL LEVEL SENSOR on a SAAB 93 2002> on

1st you will need a new fuel sensor unit part number: 10 22672171
I got this from County SAAB £60 this was including vat and p&p special delivery
(sat) Tel 01908 562194

You need few tools: Choc blocks, Jack, Axel stands, 13mm Socket, Extension bar,
Ratchet, 7mm socket, Wheel brace, flat head screwdriver big and precision, small
long nose pliers, Hammer and chisel
Right lets start so get the car jacket up now on the Saab as its so ridged you can jack it
up on only one side on the suspension arm and then use the stands see pic remember
to choc the front wheels.

I could not go higher than this as the front touch’s the ground but left me with more
than enough space for the job and I am a fat git. I also removed the rear wheel to
make easy access
Now remove the 4 rubber mounts that hold exhaust I found the big flat head
screwdriver good for this and lower the exhaust.

Now disconnect 3 fuel lines (no.11) and one plug (no.13).

Now disconnect the fuel filler pipe this has a hose clip on it I used the 7mm socket.
Now I undone the tank straps there are 4 13mm bolts (15) but I only had to undo the 2
towards the front of the car and lower tank I had to undo one more pipe to free the
tank and slide out .

Now its time to take out the fuel pump you just have to knock the securing ring anti
clockwise till it is off I used a hammer and chisel for this it’s a lot easier than the old
Saabs as its metal not plastic.
Now you can pull out the pump.
Now you can remove the sender unit by pressing in the clip (A) and pulling down(B).

Now detach the connector from pump cover (2) and undo the red lock on the cable
terminals (3) prise out the 2 sender cables (blue) pin no. 2&3(4).
Now refit in reverse

Hope this helps as faulty fuel sender is common
