sheldan23@live.com.au Introduction Welcome to the House Stark New Years Day Warhammer Fantasy tournament! A tournament brought to you by Winterfell. This is the players pack, which contains all the important information you require to compete at Winterfell. Important dates, tournament rules and other tidbits can all be found in this document. The House Stark Team hopes your New Years Day tournament experience is both enjoyable and successful; we are looking forward to the tournament intensely and hope we can all strive to make New Years Day a wonderful event. The Players All the players that attend New Years Day are expected to conduct themselves appropriately throughout the event. That includes playing the game in the right spirit, making sure they have everything they need (dice, measuring tape, clear army lists and their armies!) and in general contributing to a friendly environment where everyone can enjoy both their games and the time spent in between rounds with fellow gamers. The event organizers will do their best to ensure that the event runs smoothly and everything is provided to enable the players to get as much enjoyment as possible from the event, and likewise the players should do their utmost to hold up their end of the bargain. Tournament Scoring Each player will accumulate tournament points over the course of the day comprising of the elements listed below. A final score out of 60 will be calculated, therefore each point a player earns in Battle, Sports and Painting will directly contribute a single point to their tournament score. Battle Points: Three (3) games will be played by each player with a maximum of 20 battle points being gained per game (massacre). following VP table will be used to determine the points received by each player for each game.

With 3 games, it is possible to amass 100 battle points towards a playerstournament score. Sportsmanship: After every game each player will answer the 5 questions below regarding their opponents sportsmanship attributes throughout the game. A player's tournament points for sports are calculated by their opponent's responses to these questions.

1. Were all rules queries resolved amicably and without too much argument? 2. Did your opponent always state what they were doing clearly before proceeding rolling dice and/or moving models? 3. Did your opponent move their units correctly? I.e. did they not use a "rubber ruler" and therefore moved their fast cavalry, skirmishers and other units the correct distance each time? 4. In your opinion, did your opponent play the game in the right spirit? Did they maintain a sensible approach and demeanour when things were not going their way? 5. Would you be happy enough to play your opponent again? Maybe not today but at another tournament perhaps? So from the 3 games a player could possibly receive 30 sportsmanship points(perfect score) which will contribute 30 points to their tournament score. Painting: Winterfell will inspect each army on the weekend and mark the painting on the following criteria: Is the army fully painted (3 colours minimum)? 4 Are the bases flocked? 3 Does it have painted movement trays for units that require it? 3 Does the army look like a cohesive force? Consistent colour scheme etc. 3 Is the Army painted by the player/ general. 1. Is there at least one conversion/ custom built model. 1.

From the listed criteria a total of 15 points is available should a players army score the maximum for each one. The idea is that each player has a fully painted cohesive looking army. This is not a beauty pageant and not Golden Daemon. If it is painted to the above criteria you will receive top marks. Tournament Restrictions Restrictions are being kept to a minimum and are as follows. *2000 Points. *Special or Named Characters are allowed *Any of the Army Books published by Games Workshop before September 2013 are able to be used. *All current FAQ articles produced by Games Workshop will be used. *Apart from Winds of Magic dice an army may only add 2 Power Dice or Dispel Dice to its magic dice pool in each magic phase (apart from the exceptions below). This includes channelling, so for example if you channel one dice you can only add one more. Any dice added to the pool, regardless of source (generated, stolen, stored from previous magic phases, generated by magic items/abilities to boost spellcasting before or after the casting attempt, produced by spells, lore abilities, and so on) count. Excess dice are simply discarded and cannot be used in any way (i.e. - they cant be stored). If a dice is stolen from the

opponents pool, but your army has already generated two extra dice, the dice is removed from the opponents pool and then discarded. Any additional dice are lost and cannot be used. The controlling player chooses which dice are discarded if there is a need to distinguish. *Dice generated from being in proximity to a Shard of the Herdstone do not count as a power dice for the purpose of the dice limit. *Items that add D3 power dice are allowed to exceed the dice limit and add the additional dice should the result of the dice roll grant three extra dice. *Night Goblin Mushroom D6 do not count as "power dice" as per their Armybook. * No single non character unit in the army may be over 450 points or contain more than 40 miniatures * The magic item Fozzriks Folding Fortress may not be taken. *Battleline-Save the Direwolves. This game is played with an extra objective for each player. Everyone is supplied with a Direwolf that grants 1 Battle Victory Points if it exits the opposite board edge. Direwolf 9 Special Rules:

Ward save 5+ (dodge). Must begin in a unit. Killing blow. Hatred.

*Blood and Glory/ In The Name of House Stark. +500vp for meeting the victory conditions first rather than total victory. *The Pass/ I dont like my enemy to know what I can do be the first to kill the enemy General grants 1 Bonus Battle Point *All games grant 2 Bonus Battle Points by Destroying (none left on the table) all enemy Core Units. *** All lists will be looked over, and if it is deemed that you have built a list purely to destroy your opponents will to go on, you will be asked for a resubmit *** ArmyLists Players are required to send their army lists through to sheldan23@live.com.au no later than the 31st December 2013. Failure to do so will result in a -6 points deduction from their battle score (2 points per game in the tournament). Please contact the tournament organiser if your list is going to be late. (If there is a good reason I wont deduct the points) Army lists are to be in Microsoft Word. Therefore if you use Army Builder please save it in text format and send that through, not the original Army Builder format!
