I am a student at Jiangnan University of design, going to take a undergraduate degree in Industrial Design. I have a keen interest in almost everything and learn quickly understand thoroughly. One of my favorite interest is handwork, especially woodwork. The purpose of this portfolio is to show the process behind the projects to better display capabilities throughout the process. These project are not presented merely with the end results, but include the interations and decisions taken along the way.

LIFE OF NATURE& COLORFUL WORLD

Our object is to familiar with the product which is already exist inour life and we are going improveit so that the product can become more effective and enjoyable for user. Storage product is an indispensable stuff in our life,in terms of function and emotion,we believe it is necessary for us to exploit them to let it stand out in this product category.

By choosing a product(under 50) around us, we are going to have a production redesign and improvement design. The final design must have the similar function but differ from the original product. Not only satisfy users requirement but also attractive.

INSTRUCTION

ORIGINAL PRODUCT ANALYSIS

STRUCTURE Consist of five plastic plate, can be folded, taken and disassembled. FUNCTION Store clothes, makeup, stationery and sundries . FEATURE Can be folded, easy to store, bright color, cute. DEFECT Thin material, easy to cut the hand. Too insecure. The paperboard is not durable, it is easy to be broken when touch the water. USER Suitable for all kind of people,especially housewives and young female. USING PLACE House(bedroom,kitchen,bathroom) office, car.

3D MODEL
A complete Rhino model was created , allowing us to calculate the accurate size for the product. Also the color chosen.

<COLORFUL WORLD>

PHYSICAL MODEL
The product is made by non-woven fabric and PVC. It is to fold and disassemble, user can make their own space whatever they want. This product is focus on the function of reserve and the users emotion of color and tactility.

<LIFE OF NATURAL>

PHYSICAL MODEL
The product is made by mood, which is consist of six equilateral triangle storage boxes, can combine into different form based on user s favor. This product is focus on emotion of nature and fun.

WORKING PROCESS

GUI BU KE YAN & YI JIAO YUE GUANG

These products are focus on Guizhou local cultural and art as a tourist souvenir. We had half-month folk art observation and study on southeast of Guizhou Province to know the local custom. Communicating with native, so that we can record the ancient architectural complex and national totem.

PROJECT TARGET
By means of folk art observation and study, we are going to combine products with local artistic cultural, in order to design out original products, which can let more people know about the cultural of Guizhou.

MATERIAL COLLECTION

EARLY SKETCH
We determine to choose doll and decorations to be two series of tourist souvenir. Not only to reflect the charm of Guizhou from dolls clothes or jewelrys pattern, but exploring the form of products.

FURTHER SKETCH
DOLLS CONCEPTIONS 1 This series of dolls are made from wood. The patterns of clothes are going to improve from Guizhous local traditional pattern.

DOLLS CONCEPTIONS 2 This series of dolls are going to made from linen. And the headwear and clothes are base on the local tradition, then improve them.

By sifting all concepts, the final concepts would be these traditional Chinese dolls and decorations .

WORKING PROCESS

FINISHED PRODUCT
GUI BU KE YAN These dolls are handmade by using purple grit mud. The pattern on these dolls clothes are drew by brush. Pattern on their clothes include dragon flower and spindrift, and with a exaggerated color, which reflect the feature of Guizhou and also the sense of minorities.

YI JIAO YUE GUANG The Miao nationality is famous for its cultural of buffalo, YI JIAO means the shape of buffalo born, also, the shape is like a moon, so named YUE GUANG. These decorations are made from ceramic, using enthusiastic color like red and orange to reflect the personality characteristics of minorities.
