OFFICIAL GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS: 1. The competition is open to all school-based or community-based choral groups in the country. 2. There are four categories in the Competition: 2.1. Childrens Category 6 to 12 Years Old 2.2. Youth Category 13 to 16 Years Old 2.3. College Category 17 Years old and Above 2.4. LGU/Church Based Category 20 Years old and Above 3. Official Date and Time of the Competition: 3.1. March 4, 2014 3.1.1. 8:00 AM Childrens Category 3.1.2. 10:00 AM Quartet Competition 3.1.3. 2:00 PM Youth Category 3.1.4. 4:00 PM College Category/Adult Category 3.1.5. 7:00 PM LGU/Church Based Category 4. Venue of the competition will be in the Arriesgado Auditorium, Tagum City. 5. The group must be composed of a maximum of 25 singers, one (1) conductor and one (1) accompaniment. 6. Each group shall render two (2) choral pieces: one (1) side piece and one (1) contest piece. 7. Competing groups are allowed to choose their own side piece, whether it be classic, folk or religious songs and it shall be in foreign languages, Filipino or local dialects while the contest piece shall be provided by the organizer. 8. The contest piece for the Youth, Adult and LGU/Church based choirs shall be in a capella in 4 voices while the childrens category shall be either a capella or with accompaniment. 9. Accompaniments are allowed only to play at most 3 groups of different categories, otherwise the accompanist shall be denied to participate in the choral competition. 10. Conductors are allowed only to conduct at most 2 groups of different categories, otherwise the conductor shall be denied to participate in the choral competition. 11. LGU choir members must be at least 20 years old and must be employed for a least one (1) year in the local government unit being represented and is duly endorsed by the Mayor or Governor. 12. Church choir members must be at least 20 years old, must be a member for at least 1 year of the church choir being represented, and must be duly endorsed by the head of the Local Parish/Church. 13. Conductors/conductress shall be required to wear formal attire. 14. Maximum performance time is 12 minutes including the entrance and exit. 15. A deduction of two (2) points will be incurred in excess of every minute or fraction of a minute. 16. Criteria for judging Tonal Quality (flexibility of voice, intonation & range) 40% Harmony (blending & balance, phrasing) 30% Mastery (dynamics, technique, interpretation) 20% Deportment (general appearance, discipline & uniform) 10% Total 100%

17. The allocation of points shall be based on the following: Contest Piece 70% Side Piece 30% Total 100% 18. Cash prizes at stake - TO BE ANNOUNCED 19. A set of judges shall be assigned by the Tagum City Tourism Council. These Official Judges are well known for their achievement and stature in the field of music and performing arts preferably coming from outside of Davao Region or have gained a National Stature. Their decision shall base on the results of the competition and shall be final and irrevocable. 20. Deadline for the submission of entries shall be on January 31, 2014. Deadline for the submission of entries will be on January 31, 2014 and final briefing will be on February 3, 2014 @ the Rotary Park Gym, Tagum City. 22.
