“From June to July we saw an increase of almost 40% in the number of prescriptions filled through the
Lancaster County Prescription Drug Discount Card Program and nearly a 40% increase in the amount of money
residents saved by using the cards,” reported Commissioner Dennis Stuckey. “We are encouraged by the
increasing number of people benefiting from this program and hope that all residents, who have medications
that are not covered by another insurance plan, are able to utilize this card in the upcoming months.”
Lancaster County has made the free prescription drug discount cards available under a program
sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACo) that offers savings off the retail price of commonly
prescribed drugs for prescriptions not covered by another health insurance plan. The card may be used by all
county residents, regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage, and are accepted at 91 pharmacies in
Lancaster County and over 59,000 pharmacies nationwide.
“The increased number of residents benefiting from the discount card can be attributed to the many
individuals and entities who have partnered with us to distribute the cards,” said Commissioner Craig Lehman.
“We thank all of our partners and encourage anyone who would like to share this discount with people in their
community to contact our office at 299-8300 for additional information.” A complete list of locations where the
public can obtain a discount card is provided on the Lancaster County website at www.co.lancaster.pa.us.
