Connect to a flight across the Pacific and the International Dateline to Asia.

China!s cultural and political center, tour to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City which is now a museum with antiquities from China!s last dynasty. After lunch visit the 15th century Temple of Heaven, now a park where locals of all ages gather for recreation.

Arrive in Shanghai, China!s largest and most cosmopolitan city. After clearing entry formalities, be met, have the luggage transferred to the hotel and for the airport transfer, take the magnetic levitation high speed train at speeds up to 240 mph floating 35 kilometers from the airport to the Pudong terminus in 7 minutes. Visit the TV Tower observation deck and walk through the history diorama exhibit at the base of the tower before continuing to the Salvo Hotel. After a light dinner, rest to recover from jet-lag.

Climb the Bell Tower overlooking the oldest residential area of the city. Continue by exploring the Houhai district (known as the back of the lake), with traditional courtyard homes in narrow hutong alleys. Tour the district by pedicab including a visit to a private home. Conclude at Prince Gong!s garden. Afternoon visit the traditional shopping street of Dashilan and the "silk alley! markets. Tonight see the Legend of Kung Fu performance.

Spend this morning exploring the Old Town area including the Temple of the City God and Xintiandi with a stop at the French concession house where the CCP was founded. After lunch take the !people mover" through the Sea Tunnel to Pudong and go to see Aquaria 21, a new and modern indoor aquarium offering a glimpse of life on the ocean floor and take an excursion to Walmart to compare different shopping experience for ordinary products. Dinner on your own with many options along the pedestrian shopping section of Nanjing Road.

This morning drive to the zoo to see pandas. Then tour the Qing Dynasty Summer Palace and take a cruise on Kunming Lake. After lunch go the Children!s Palace. Meet, observe and visit with students of similar ages in extracurricular activities such as art, music and dance. Dinner is on your own, walking distance from the hotel in the Wangfujing area with choices ranging from Food Street to MacDonalds.

Drive to Suzhou, called the Venice of the East for its many canals. Famous for traditional Chinese garden homes as described in the novel, Spring Moon, the tour includes a boat ride on the canals, the Humble Administrator!s Garden and a silk factory which houses the Suzhou Silk Museum. Return to Shanghai in time for dinner.

Tour outside the city to the Great Wall of China. The visit will focus on Mutianyu, a less visited section of the Wall with cable car availability and striking, panoramic views. Have lunch in a rural restaurant. On return stop at the 798 Factory in the Dashanzi Art District and for photos at the 2008 Olympic site. Dinner this evening features Beijing Duck.

Visit the Urban Planning Exhibition and the Shanghai Museum, a world-class museum with a wonderful collection of Chinese artifacts. See a performance of Shanghai Acrobats tonight.

Check out of the hotel and tour the Buddhist Lamasery Temple, an Imperial residence converted to a Tibetan style Buddhist Lamasery. After lunch transfer for the return flight, departing and arriving on the same day.
