Spellathon: Volunteers are needed to help distribute and pick up pledge forms, as well as grade spelling tests on Feb. 6. Staff appreciation days: Each month, P-H parents show staffers how much theyre appreciated with food! Second-grade families are asked to contribute Jan. 23, thirdgrade families are asked to contribute Feb. 19. Contact Mandy Serafine at mserafine@gmail.com.

Each of the first nine games will have a winner picking their own prize basket, followed by the grand-prize game. Cards are $4 and a dauber is $1. Well also have the Estimation Station, where students guess the number of items in one of 10 jars. Closest guess to the actual number takes home the jar. Guesses are 25 cents each or five for $1. And for the first time, there will be 10 random prizes given away throughout the evening! The evening begins at 6 with a pizza, candy, popcorn and drinks. Estimation Station guesses go until 6:55 p.m., followed by 10 games of bingo. We hope to see you for what is one of Price-Harris most fun events of the school year!

PTO adds six trees to playground

The Price-Harris playground continued to undergo major changes before the holiday break when six trees were installed between the north end of the building and the playground equipment. PTO spent $4,500 for 25-foot sawtooth oak trees. Four were planted close to the new set of playground equipment. The other two were planted near the north entrance to the school. GM Tree Farms of Wichita installed the trees. It is hoped that they can reach 60 to 70 feet by the time they reach full maturity. PTO is already planning a detailed watering schedule during the school year and in the summer months. Please let your students know that the trees are still relatively young and should not be climbed on.
