far-reaching study comes to the conclusion that in Switzerland, more and more people distance themselves from the Christian religion. In the early 1970s, 90 percent of the Swiss population was divided equally between the Reformed and the Catholic Church. Today, only 32 percent are still Reformed, and 31 percent Catholic. In other nations the same trend can be confirmed, especially in Germany. The confession of Christianity continues to lose ground. IdeaSpektrum quotes the Preussische Allgemeine Zeitung: The missions command of Jesus is changed into its opposite. The failure of the two large denominations is shocking. In the Netherlands, the number of churchgoers within the last 30 years has diminished by more than half. While 50 percent of the population still regularly attended a church service in 1966, this number sank to 21 percent in 1999. Of course, the nominal Christians are included in these statistics.

Nevertheless, the serious question arises: what about the true Christians? Not long ago, I visited once again the village of Urk in the Netherlands, which is traditionally Christian. About ten years ago, this place was worth seeing because one could sense that many true Christians were living here. Today, it is no longer so. The ways of the world have expanded and taken over. The influence of a once strong Christian presence seems to have lost ground. Where are the truly believing Christians? Where are the God-fearing people? This was also what Elijah might have asked himself when he resignedly fled from Jezebel. Elijahs fear for his life and his despair about the spiritual condition of his people (he thought he was the only one who still believed in God) went so far that he lay down under a juniper tree in the desert, wanting to die (cf. 1 Kings 19:4, 10). But God had other plans. Twice, the Angel of the Lord appeared and commanded him to get up and to eat, that is, to

strengthen himself for going further. Finally, God showed him that he was not alone: Yet have I left me seven thousand in Israel, that is, all who have not bowed their knees to Baal, and whose mouth has not kissed him! (1 Kings 19:18). It is a fact that much of the Church is in retreat. It is all the more important for those who believe in Jesus Christ to occupy a position and not give up. In John 6, Jesus speaks earnestly about the relation of His own to Him and to God the Father. By the signs and wonders which He did, He already had His followers. But Jesus knew very well who truly believed in Him. He declared that He is the only way to the Father. Yet most of His disciples did not want to receive this and distanced themselves, From that time on many of His disciples went away and walked no longer with Him (verse 66). Finally, Jesus asks, probably with sadness, the Twelve: Will you also go away? Following Jesus is not a stroll. Often, we are led into situations where resignation wants to take over. There, it is supremely important to keep ones final goal in sight and to look upon Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Then, the Lord Himself will lead us out of these depths again. Just as in the case of Elijah, so He will also act toward us. In 2 Chronicles 16:9, we read that the eyes of the Lord are seeking us and He wants to prove Himself powerful with us. After His Resurrection, Jesus asked the two disciples, What have you been talking about on the way, and why are you so sad? (Luke 24:17). He is asking you today, Will you also go away? MC

When we compare the world just 100 years ago with today, we can speak of mind-boggling change. The nations of the world,at the beginning of the 1900s,adamantly opposed any kind of internationalism. European colonial powers were fiercely protecting their conquered territory. They used their military strength to insure that the colonies remain loyal to theirmother country.

ut then, the colonial times ended. The colonies wanted change, so they rebelled; they insisted on change, on independence. That was part of the ongoing global change. Today, we are experiencing some fascinating and disturbing changes. This may be a controversial topic due to the simple fact that change must continue globally, and that particularly the U.S.A lags dangerously behind when it comes to change.
Changing the U.S.A.

In the United States, the word globalism is looked upon with mistrust, particularly by the right leaning spectrum of the population, of whom many assume that globalism will rob America of its independence and encroach upon its freedoms. That, indeed, is true. But to be a member of the global family, international laws and regulations must be adhered to. Yet, that type of change requires a degree of sacrifice of sovereignty, and many Americans are still uncomfortable with this development. Experts agree that without full participation in the global economy, the United States could not exist as an independent nation operating in a civilized manner. Thats the simple truth. their own financial system. Most importantly, they must be capable of change. That is often difficult, because these various European nations have ancient histories that predate the colonies that were established on the American continent. They were functioning nations, using their own language and practicing their own culture and tradition. Yet, they must continue to change; in EU-speak, they must meet convergence criteria until it becomes evident what Revelation 17:13 says: These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
Changing Europe
One of the most remarkable occurrences in the process of change has taken place on the European continent. At the time of writing, 27 nations are members of the European Union. They have created the worlds largest economy. They are the biggest exporters and importers. But there is more to come. Dozens of nations are standing in line, application in hand, hoping to become members of the European Union. The criteria to become a member of the Union is somewhat complicated, but suffice it to say, these are fundamental human rights, democracy and adherence to a number of international treaties. The applying nation must produce evidence that they can operate a well functioning economy and control
The Change That Made America Great

Change was something that America historically practiced extremely well. The diverse group of primarily European immigrants changed into a solid, united and prosperous nation. While the European nations were continually fighting each other, the newly established United States of America offered an alternativeunity. Although during the heyday of mass immigration arriving on the shores of America, certain enclaves evolvedItalians, Russians, Irish, Germans, and others tried to stick togetherit did not last long until all were dissolved into one identityAmericans. This was a contributing cause for many educated and rich Europeans to come to the new country, where the threat of war was not hanging over their heads.

THE GREAT CHANGE OF PROGRESSIVE GLOBALISM

Slowdown of Change
However, Americas progress of change slowed down to a virtual halt after the Second World War. A contributing factor was the general perception that anything not 100 percent American was considered anti-American. That was the seed sown particularly by anti-communist, anti-socialist and anti-foreigner rhetoric, now growing to fruition. Today, it seems all but impossible to implement fundamental changes in American society. In the meantime, many prosperous socialist nations are beginning to leave the U.S.A. behind.
Global Outsourcing
Under hourly compensation, ventureoutsource.com published figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics with the introduction:
Manufacturing hourly compensation costs were highest in Norway, at 1.8 times the U.S. level. Australia, Canada and 10 of the 12 European countries had higher hourly compensation costs than the United States. Spain and Portugal were the only two European countries that had lower hourly compensation than the United States. 1
The Great Brain Drain

It was in 1964 when I was residing in Perth, Western Australia, that I read the headline in the local paper about the great brain drain from Britain. This story claimed that over 20,000 British engineers were migrating to the United States annually. The writer of the article expressed his concern about Britains future in being able to compete in the industrialized world. America represented hope and the future. Today, this has changed. America has become a semi-cheap labor country; subsequently, thousands of European and Asian firms have moved their factories to the United States, primarily due to cheap labor cost. That is a long-term real problem, because cheap labor will produce cheap products.
Quite striking is the fact that of the ten highest labor cost countries, nine are European. Realizing that these nations are mainly from the territory of the ancient Roman World Empire, we may justifiable speak of the resurrection of Rome as the final Gentile superpower.
International Treaties
One can find a number of international treaties and agreements which the U.S. is not a signatory to. Here are just a few examples:

The reason for publishing this information is simply to show that the United States will continue to experience extreme difficulty in implementing fundamental changes, which in turn will contribute to the accelerated decline of Americas global influence.

Antiquated Measurements
The most obvious sign of Americas unwillingness to change is its antiquated measurement system. While the whole world, without exception, changed to the metric system, the United States still makes use of the ancient, outmoded European system of miles, yards, inches, gallons, quarts, pints, pounds, ounces, etc. The country once leading the world in change and founded upon the insistence on change, is now left behind, stuck in the old European systems. Granted, this may not be of great significance, but it does show the tendency of the United States to balk at change.
democracy invading Islam, but not when we realize that the Islamic nations are the major holders of energy resources. There is definitely a link between the production and consumption of energy. Will America change in its thirst for energy? Most likely not, at least not in the foreseeable future.
Cheap Gasoline the Real Problem?

This paragraph Im writing may cause some to stop reading. Why? Because Americans main problem is not the much-sensationalized news about the rising cost of gasoline at the pump, but the comparatively cheap energy we are being supplied with. Although its impossible to say how the following figures will look down the road, they do reflect gasoline prices in 2010.
Change in Energy Consumption

An extremely important issue for the United States is change in energy consumption. Countries with an equivalent or higher standard of living use significantly less energy than Americans per capita. European and Asian countries were quick to change, realizing that energy will continue to be scarce as years go by. Although significant progress has been made in reducing energy consumption in the United States, America still lags far behind other progressive nations. While the country represents only five percent of the worlds population, it consumes almost 25 percent of the worlds energy. That is one of the greatest problems America faces.
Comparing 1965 with 2010

In 1965, the minimum wage was $1.25 per hour. The cost of one gallon of gas was about 32 cents. That means, 15 minutes of work for one gallon of gasoline. In 2010, the minimum wage stood at $7.25 per hour, and gasoline stood at $3.23/gallon. That means, a half hour of work for one gallon of gasoline. But thats not where the comparison ends. The motor vehicle in 1965 averaged about 11 miles per gallon, while todays average is 25 miles per gallon. That simply means transportation from point A to B is cheaper today than it was in 1965. Other comparisons are even more dramatic, such as tires, batteries, and the vehicle itself. One cannot find a reasonable correlation when it comes to the cars of today. Those sold in 1965 were definitely inferior to the modern day automobile. The 1965 model car was a heavy piece of steel, powered with an insufficient 8-cylinder motor. It had no air conditioning, and only the upgraded models would have an AM-FM radio with one speaker. Not to mention the dangerous engineeringno collapsible steering, no air bags, and the seatbelts that were installed in some models were actually never used. todays modern automobile, you simply would have to give up because there is no comparison. Yet, the average cost of the car was about the sameone years wages, not to mention the fact that the 1965 car could not be expected to operate beyond 100,000 miles. Today, a car with that same amount of miles could be considered virtually new. Without effective public transportation, America has grown totally dependent on private motor vehicles and, despite improving gas mileage, most prefer larger onespickup trucks, SUVs and minivans. Why? Would you believe its because of cheap gasoline? Furthermore, houses are much larger today than those built in 1965. This means more space, more energy consumption. In summary, one of Americas greatest problems is cheap energy. But most of us would vigorously deny such simple facts. only has a 40-50 cent buffer to work with.
Add $3-4 Tax Per Gallon?

The problem is worse than most think. America insists on not changing. No politician in their right mind would suggest $3-4 additional tax on a gallon of gasoline. That politician would not stand a chance to be reelected. So when it comes to playing the blame game, I think we would do well to look in the mirror to see the culprit of Americas greatest problem. Will America change? Very unlikely. But the astronomical thirst for imported oil is upsetting the balance sheet to dangerous levels. What will happen when communist China, Japan and socialist Europe no longer buy U.S. government bonds to underwrite this lopsided consumption?
Taxing Gasoline
In comparison, most progressive nations pay double, even triple the amount for energy that Americans do. Gasoline is heavily taxed in Europe. For example, in Germany in 2009, tax per liter stood at 0.654 (approximately $3.60 per gallon). When you factor in the Value Added Tax (19%) on the fuel itself and the Fuel Tax, the tax alone added up to 1.22 per liter ($6.28 per US gallon).4 Even in Norway, the third largest oil exporter, $1.42 tax per liter ($5.36 per gallon) was added.5 Although the tax rate varies greatly from country to country, most nations pay a high price for their gasoline. Furthermore, those who own vehicles with large engines in some countries must pay additional tax. The progressive nations quickly learned that, if the cost were high, the people would be careful when consuming energy. Most of the richest nations in the world pay $7 to $10 per gallon. Besides driving innovation in fuel economy, these taxes also provide a buffer for the government; they could be temporarily suspended. The US

Abundance of Oil?
The majority of the United States citizens seem to be living in an illusion, believing that energy is unlimited, without consciously realizing that the largest portion of the energy has to be imported. For many decades, we have received reports our readers sent in where the authors tried to show that there is an abundance of oil in the United States; subsequently, no need for oil imports. In the March 2011 issue of Midnight Call, we published a letter from one of our readers. The following is an excerpt:
I encountered a book several years ago written by Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D., called, Black Gold Stranglehold The Myth of Scarcity and the Politics of Oil, which exposes the fraudulent science that has been sold to the world in order to enslave them: the belief that oil is a fossil fuel and a finite resource. The book goes into great detail on how the oil producing nations manipulate world economies, use rogue terrorist regimes like Libya for their own ends, and act as our friend while we buy their oil, and then work behind our back to destroy our way of life.

British Petroleum,known today as BP,almost went bankrupt when one of its towers blew up in the Gulf of Mexicoand there is more to come regarding financial assessment.The reason these giant oil companies drill in such awkward and dangerous places is proof that there is not enough to be found on land.
Simply stated, there is growing evidence that we, in fact, are not running out of oil. If we are not, then there should not be any mad dash to drill for new oil to quench the global appetite. At this point in history, there are more proven oil reserves than ever, despite many decades of increased consumption. So, if we are using more because of the thousands of cars being built in China, India, Indonesia, etc., but in fact, oil is not being decreased in any capacity, then perhaps we are being hoodwinked into believing exactly what the environmental extremists want us to believe.
Sounds convincing doesnt it? Obviously, it is dead wrong. First of all, China, India, Indonesia, etc., are not adding thousands of cars every year to their roads, but tens of millions. Worldometers reveals that 51 million new cars were put on the roads in 2009. Simply put, more oil is required to satisfy the thirst of these vehicles.
After the Arab nations have implemented democracy, the world will definitely look different.
Oil Lubricates Global Unity

Americas predicament will doubtless assist the Arab aspiration to become more democratic and be able to have a more significant voice when it comes to the cost of oil. That is another step closer toward equality among the nations of the world. Moreover, many of the major newly discovered oil fields are located in the ocean. It is relatively easy to set up an oilrig on the land in a year, but extremely difficult, dangerous, and very expensive to do the same in the water. British Petroleum, known today as BP , almost went bankrupt when one of its towers blew up in the Gulf of Mexicoand there is more to come regarding financial assessment. The reason these giant oil companies drill in such awkward and dangerous places is proof that there is not enough to be found on land.

here are two views among premillennialists as to the timing of the fulfillment of the birth pangs prophesied in the Matthean eschatological discourse. In his commentary on the Gospel of Matthew, Walvoord wrote with regard to premillennialists who understand Matthew 24:414 as a unit, describing the general characteristics of the age leading up to the end, while at the same time recognizing that the prediction of the difficulties, which will characterize the entire period between the first and second coming of Christ, are fulfilled in an intensified form as the age moves on to its conclusion. In other words, they argue that 24:414 lists general signs, whereas 24:1526 lists specific signs. The differentiation between general and specific signs would mean that the former have been at least partially fulfilled in the present age and have characterized the period between the first and second coming of Christ.1 However, even within this view, some interpret 24:48 as general signs of the period between the first and second coming of Christ and 24:914 as events occurring in the first half of the tribulation.2

Certainly, the birth pangs in the Olivet Discourse (false messiahs, wars, famines, and earthquakes) have their precursors in the present age.3 However, the relationship between Christs statements in the eschatological discourses and parallels in Revelation 6 indicates that these signs will not be fulfilled during the church age. The prophesied signs are unique to a period of which the world has never known. Since these signs are events that fit contextually within the tribulation period, they should not be cited as fulfilled (in any sense) in the current age.4 For example, it is common to reference famines and plagues as proof of prophetic fulfillment, but the truth is, these have been occurring throughout the course of human history for thousands of years. The worst famines in history happened in North China (187679) and India (187678). In North China alone, deaths by hunger, violence, and subsequent disease are estimated at between 9 million and 13 million.5 The worst case of pestilence was in Europe and Asia from AD 500 to 650 (popularly termed the Plague of Justinian), which left three of every five inhabitants dead. and the part of Revelation beginning with the sixth chapter. And such is indeed the case.9 There are significant parallels between the synoptic eschatological discourses and the Book of Revelation. Of course, all premillennialists understand that the synoptic eschatological discourses are parallel in at least some aspects to the Book of Revelation. Therefore, it is logical (and more importantly, this is the revelation of Scripture) that Matthew 24:414 and the remaining portions of the Matthean discourse would focus attention upon the same period of time, that is, the sevenyear tribulation. ple and the Byzantine Empire dates from the Plague of Justinian. Not until the ninth century did the Empire begin to recover. Recurring epidemics of bubonic plague killed as many as 100 million people in Europe and Asia.6 From 1347 to 1351, the Black Death affected every level of society, killing an estimated 75 million people, depopulating more than 200,000 villages, and reducing the European population by perhaps as much as one-quarter.7 None can deny the devastation of these select events, but there is no comparison to those of the future tribulation. No current frame of reference exists for the judgments and signs of the tribulation. If the events of 24:414 (or 24:48) are general signs of disasters as ancient as the human racerepresenting familiarly distressing scenes of conquest, war, famine, and deaththen what will be different in the breaking of the first four seal judgments? Obviously, nothing would be different, and this is not the case from the biblical text.8 Another premillennial interpretation of Matthew 24:414 is that these prophesied events occur solely in the first half of the tribulation. Gaebelein wrote: The point which we wish to make is the following: If this is the correct interpretation, if Matthew xxiv:414 refers to the beginning of that coming end of the age and if Revelation vi refers to the same beginning of the end and that which follows the sixth chapter leads us on into the great tribulation, then there must be a perfect harmony between that part of the Olivet discourse contained in Matthew xxiv Are Earthquakes Increasing in Fulfillment of Matthew 24:7? Some prophetic teachers make claims with regard to earths increasing number of earthquakes as a sign of the end times in fulfillment of Matthew 24:7. Such claims do not accord with scientific data or proper interpretation of Christs words in the Olivet Discourse. According to the National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC), the number of earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or higher remains invariable. The increase in scientific instrumentation (seismographs with increased sensitivity) and global communication has allowed seismologists to identify large and small earthquakes at a much more rapid rate than in the past twenty years. Seismographs have demonstrated no increase in the number of earthquakes in more recent years. Using records since the 1900s, the NEIC anticipates seventeen major earthquakes of a magnitude between 7.07.9 and one great earthquake of a magnitude 8.0 or higher on a yearly basis (e.g. the recent earthquake in Japan).11 The chart tabulates the most significant quakes in recent years. Bold represents any above-average figures. Please observe that above-average figures are rare. The number of great earthquakes between 1969 and 2011 is consistent with the long-term average. black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earthThe sky was split apart like a scrolland every mountain and island were moved out of their places. The sixth seal judgment will affect the heavens and the earth. Isaiah (2:1022) prophesied its devastation as occurring in the day of reckoning, when God will arise to make the earth tremble. The campaign of Armageddon will witness numerous earthquakes (Rev 8:5; 11:19; 16:18). Revelation 16:1820 describes a great earthquake (i.e.

In Acts 1, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives before witnesses, and it is there that He will return to deliver His people. The great earthquake will occur when Messiah returns to earth and sets His feet upon the Mount of Olives and splits it in two (Acts 1:912; Zech 14:111). The biblical conclusions in this article do not invalidate biblical prophecies. Hahn explained, We must conclude that much greater earthquake activity lies ahead for the world. This also corresponds to the understanding that the Tribulation period is in fact a period of time where God himself intervenes in the physical order of the earth. It is a time of Gods wrath.13

Endtime Earthquakes, Pestilences, Famines & Disasters: When? Part I

According to Swiss Re, the international reinsurance company which publishes the annual Sigma Report (the latest subtitled, Natural Catastrophes and Man-made Disasters in 2010) the cost of disasters rose last year compared to 2009.
Quoting the report:

Natural catastrophes and man-made disasters claimed nearly 304,000 victims and resulted in economic losses of close to USD 218 billion in 2010. The cost to insurers was more than USD 43 billion. Compared to 2009, insured losses were more than 60% higher in 2010, but still below 2005, the year that insured losses soared after Hurricane Katrina, Wilma and Rita struck the US. In 2010, 304 catastrophic events occurred, consisting of 167 natural catastrophes and 137 manmade disasters. [] Some of the most devastating earthquakes in history occurred in 2010. In fact, 78% of approximately 297,000
fatalities caused by natural disasters in 2010, were attributable to earthquakes.
Clearly, natural disasters were the cause of the largest catastrophes, not to mention the largest underwriting losses for insurers. However, sadly as noted, earthquakes were the cause of the most deaths. Certainly, earthquakes have been front page news in recent years. Looking back, among the most widely reported in recent years were the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, which triggered the tsunami wave devastating the coastline of Indonesia, Thailand and other Asian

Earthquakes and Natural Disasters Prophesied Indeed, the Bible in no uncertain terms indicates that great natural disasters, famines, and other types of disruptions will occur in the very last days. Their scale and impact will be greater than ever before in history. But when, exactly, will these occur? Can some of these phenomena already be identified today? In answering this question, we will primarily focus on earthquakes, partly for reasons of space, but mostly because they play such a prominent role in the Bible and prophecy. The entirety of Creation is often shown to display its fear and reverence for the Lord in the form of quaking in a number of Scriptures (Psalms 75:3, 96:9, 99:1, 114:7, Exodus 15:14 to name a few). Moreover, the Bible mentions historical earthquakes (i.e. the great earthquake during the time of King Uzziah, which is mentioned by both Amos and Zechariah). Most sobering, however, are the earthquakes that are prophesied to occur in the endtimes. Not only are they a frequent subject of prophecy, but Jesus Christ himself also confirmed that there would be earthquakes in diverse places before the end comes. Where do we find the key information on endtime natural disasters in the New Testament particularly earthquakes? For the most part, primarily in two places: in the prophecies of Christ (the Olivet Discourse, found in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21) and the Book of Revelation. However, readers may find it surprising to learn that the earthquakes of the Olivet Discourse are not the ones mentioned in Revelation. Not only are they different, but they also occur in separate stages of the last days.

Among them, New Zealand (6.3 on the Richter Scale, February 11) and the catastrophic 9.0-scale quake in Japan on March 11. Are the incidence and severity of earthquakes increasing? Its a pivotal question for several reasons, not the least of which is that Bible prophecy makes frequent references to earthquakes. In the book of Revelation alone, the word earthquake (seismos in Greek) comes up seven times. As such, can recent earthquakes be seen as fulfillment of Bible prophecy? To answer those questions, we will need to turn to the Bible. A number of other last-day disasters are also prophesied, including famines, pestilences, and hailstorms, among others. We will have to consider the advent of these phenomena as well in answering the question of when earthquakes are prophesied to increase. As we will see, if we rightly balance all of Scripture, the Bible gives clear guidance on these questions. We find wonderfully confirming symmetry and alignment between Old and New Testament prophecies. Moreover, as we will conclude, the Lords return (the Rapture) is right at the door and could occur at any time.

As such, we must conclude that the earthquakes that Christ says will occur in diverse places occur in the first 42 months of the Tribulation period. However, before we settle on this conclusion, we have yet more evidence to examine. Next, we must address this question: just when do the earthquakes mentioned in the book of Revelation occur? The Earthquakes of Revelation The book of Revelation tells us of at least 5 earthquakes that occur during the Tribulation period. The first one mentioned occurs at the time of the 6th seal (Revelation 6). It is a massive, worldwide earthquake that signifies the start of Gods wrath (and, in this writers opinion, likely the start of the Great Tribulation). The entire world recognizes this fact, stating that the great day of His wrath is come (Revelation 6:17). Fearsome apocalyptic phenomena occur at that time, which are clearly seen to be acts of God.
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face

According to this writers understanding, this time of sorrows refers to the first half (42 months) of the 7-year tribulation period. The time of Jacobs trouble (Jeremiah 30:7) and the day of Lord (a term often mentioned by the Old Testament prophets, though this latter term can refer to other periods as well i.e. the entire Tribulation, the last half of the Tribulation period, the final day that Christ overthrows Satan and the rulers of earth) refer to the second period of 42 months, often called the Great Tribulation. When Christ says that the end is not yet (Matthew 24:6, Mark 13:7 and Luke 21:9), in this writers opinion, He is referring to the entire 7-year Tribulation period. In other words, the Tribulation period has not started yet. We note then that Christ clearly partitions his prophecies into three separate time periods: 1. that which is before the end comes (the end is not yet); 2. the beginning of the end, which is re-

Several Old Testament prophets also prophesy of this time. Says Isaiah:

Hosea also sees this time: [] Then they will say to the mountains, Cover us! and to the hills, Fall on us! (Hosea 10:8). Luke confirms this visionthey will say to the mountains, Fall on us! and to the hills, Cover us! (Luke 23:30). Joel says: The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining

The next earthquake occurs at the onset of the 7th seal. A single earthquake occurs at this time, along with other events, including thunder and lightning. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake (Revelation 8:5). The third earthquake of Revelation occurs at the time of the second woe, the 6th trumpet. This is a local one. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven (Revelation 11:13). After the 7th trumpet is blown by the 7th angel, a fourth earthquake is mentioned. Again, a single earthquake occurs along with other phenomena. And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple

the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail (Revelation 11:19). In the final Part II of this article series, we will complete our review of prophesied earthquakes and other apocalyptic phenomena. One more earthquake, the greatest of all history, remains to be reviewed. We will also conclusively answer the question: are earthquakes already increasing today? Points to Ponder Part I To no surprise, the commercial world is fixated with the possibility of the costs of disasters and other risks. The World Economic Forum (WEF) (an organization sponsored by some 1,000-plus multinational corporations) every year publishes a world risk report. Its latest risk assessment (Global Risks 2011, Sixth Edition) considers the perceived impact (their term for potential losses) due to infectious diseases, earthquakes, volcanic disruptions and food security at a total of $500 billion. These outcomes are considered likely to occur over the next ten years. Two additional natural phenomena (of a total of some 40 factors reviewed) fall into the natural disaster categoryflooding, and storms and cyclones. Their probability is considered to be even highernamely, very likelyaccounting for another $500 billion in perceived impact. Police Raid Google Office Over Personal Data Collection

Police in South Korea have raided local offices of Google Incorporated in what they say is a search for evidence that Googles mobile advertising arm has been illegally collecting private data.
The probe is not directly related to a previous investigation of Google in South Korea. That probe concerned the incidental collection of personal data while Google cars were cruising through neighborhoods and taking photographs for the companys Street View service. Google officials say they are cooperating with the latest investigation, which comes amid rising concern that Apple and other mobile telephone producers are saving data on users personal movements for advertising purposes.

so much information exchanged, recorded and categorized. Not only through the Internet, but the cell phone also has become an effective information exchange device. How many telephone conversations and text messages are recorded by various firms and agencies, no one really knows. Just a few years ago when traveling, one could relax reading a book while waiting for boarding the plane. That is no longer an option. Passengers to the left and the right, in front and behind are busy exchanging information audibly, making concentrated reading all but impossible. Electronic technology has conquered the modern world
and has become the modern dictator. The phone has the right to rudely interrupt the family dinner dialogue with guests, or scheduled quite times. The cell phone overrules established behavioral guidelines with its electronically produced and often annoying sound. The machine has become the ruler of the people. The Bible gives us this advice, For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou 4082 God (Ecclesiastes 5:7).

Scientist Seeks to Banish Evil

Simon Baron-Cohen has been battling with evil all his life.
As a scientist seeking to understand random acts of violence, from street brawls to psychopathic killings to genocide, he has puzzled for decades over what prompts such acts of human cruelty. And hes decided that evil is not good enough. Weve inherited this word.. and we use it to express our abhorrence when people do awful things, usually acts of cruelty, but I dont think its anything more than another word for doing something bad. And as a scientist that doesnt seem to me to be
much of an explanation. So Ive been looking for an alternativewe need a new theory of human cruelty. His proposal is that evil be understood as a lack of empathya condition he argues can be measured and monitored and is susceptible to education and treatment. If you think about conflict resolution at the moment, usually we are dependent on diplomatic channels, legal frameworks, or military methods. But all those things operate at a very abstract level and they dont seem to get us very far. Empathy is about two peopletwo people meeting, getting to know each other and tuning in to what the other person is thinking and feeling. As an example, Baron-Cohen cites the meeting of minds between Nelson Mandela and the then South African president F. W de Klerk, which helped end apartheid in the early 1990s.
The progress that came out of just that one relationshipwell, arguably, it broke through where all other methods had failed, and at far less cost in terms of human life, he says. In the book, entitled Zero Degrees of Empathy in Britain, and The Science of Evil in the United States, where it comes out in July, Baron-Cohen seeks to pick apart and define components of empathyincluding hormones, genes, environment, nurture, and early childhood experiences. Citing decades of scientific research, he says there are at least 10 regions of the brain which make up what he calls the empathy circuit. When people hurt others, either systematically or fleetingly, parts of that circuit are malfunctioning. But rather than labeling them as evil, BaronCohen says they should be seen as sick, or disabled, and we should seek to understand why they have such an empathy deficiency and help them replace it.

Lutherans Join Sikhs inWorship

First English Lutheran Church (ELCA), Mishawaka, Indiana, worshipped with the Sikhs on Sunday, December 12.
The previous day the congregation at First English Lutheran invited the Sikhs to their church for fellowship and to learn about the many religious beliefs they share in common, according to the pastor of First English, Leonard Jepson, who also headed the exchange program. For 30 years its been a passion of mine to focus on the things we have in common, Jepson said, and thats faith in God, instead of what divides us. A member of First English Lutheran Church and a participant in the event said: I saw a lot of similarities between the two religions. Just the fact that we also look at one God, that everyone is Gods child, that this religion has a messenger as a way to God, and Christ is our way to God. There are all kinds of religions in the world, and I think understanding is the way to world peace. Jepson said his denomination (ELCA) is one of the more liberal ones in the Lutheran church. Evangelicals are divisive when they quote Jesus saying that he is the only way to God, He added. Whenever the clear message of the Bible is not proclaimed in its full force, then a substitute must come into the picture, such as expressed with the statement, understanding is the way to world peace. That sounds noble and honest enough for most people to agree to. After all, history clearly documents that religion is a major contributor of war and not peace. While such analysis may be acceptable to the world at large, it is diametrically opposed to the message of the Bible addressed to His Church. We who believe and are born again of the Spirit of God reside in this world, but we are not of the world. lieveth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36). Of course, progress will continue in tolerating each others religions. However, this development has no relationship to the Church of Jesus Christ, His Body. How religions will work in the final stages of the end time is foreshadowed by the first Gentile superpower, Babylon. It was Nebuchadnezzar who built an image with the distinct instruction for all the nations under his jurisdiction: Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up (Daniel 3:7). They were not asked to deny their religion, neither to destroy the idols in their houses, but there was one thing they had to do: worship the image. Thus it will be in the final stages under Antichrist. There is no record in the Bible that indicates he will insist upon a one-world religion; Baptists need not become Muslims, Lutherans will not become Hindus, or in this case Sikhs, and Catholics will not become Jews. The various groups of people with their respective religions may continue to function, but the one thing they must do is worship the image of the beast, And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed (Revela4099 tion 13:15).

Baron-Cohen shies away from saying that psychopaths can be cured of extreme behavior, but he argues strongly against locking them up and saying there is nothing society can do. I try to keep an open mind. I would never want to say a person is beyond help, he explains. Empathy is a skill like any other human skilland if you get a chance to practice, you can get better at it.

Simon Baron-Cohen is a brilliant man and to be commended for his dedicated attempt to conquer evil. However, it wont happen for two reasons: 1) Evil is not a disability, but rather a permanent condition of man, And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5). Although scientists, intellectuals and some politicians have made great strides toward the creation of a more civilized, friendly and non-violent society, which can be proven by statistics, yet it has not eradicated evil. At the very best, man can only repair evil temporarily. No scientist can change the continuous and permanent imagination of mans evil heart. 2) Simon Baron-Cohen will not succeed because mans thoughts dominated by his soul need not be repaired, but renewed. That renewal was already accomplished some 2,000 years ago when Jesus died on Calvarys cross, paying once and for all the full penalty for mans inherited evil. Galatians 1:4 reads, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.A change, or as the Bible says, a rebirth must take place within the person, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). 4083

I want to keep learning. I know Ive got a lot to do. My first question is, who are the 144,000? Are they the Lords chosen ones, and will they inherit the earth? For how long? Answer: Revelation 7:4 says that the 144,000 are of the children of Israel. In chapter 14, they are in heaven, and Scripture documents they were redeemed from the earth, not for the earth.

Most false teaching can be exposed by two points: 1) Their doctrine is based on an additional authority besides the Scripture, such as the doctrine of the Jehovahs Witnesses, the Book of Mormon, etc. 2) On their stance relating to Israel. Back in the 60s, as a young believer, I asked one of my Jehovahs Witness friends, Do you consider yourself to be Israel? He replied, Yes. I pointed to Romans 11:26, Blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved, then added, You are still blind and need to wait for the Church to be completed to have a chance to be saved.
From there, he will enter the Millennium, if its Gods will. From the Millennium, he will go to heaven (Revelation 20:6). Heaven is not eternal, for God is love! Eternal is hate!

Millennium Salvation? Dear Arno Froese, Again, I thank you for giving me and others the opportunity to share information that helps the body of Christ Jesus. In the April 25 issue of Time magazine, the feature story and the cover challenged the Christian interpretation of hell. It was because a Charismatic pastor of a church in Michigan, The Mars Hill Church, asked the question: Where is Mahatma Gandhi right now. Is that good man down in hell because he rejected Christ? The author of the article said this is a most important question, and that it is bound to shake up the whole Christian body. Answer: Gandhi is in Gods holding tank (You wont find holding tank anywhere in the Bible). I used it for lack of a better description.
Answer: It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment, says Hebrews 9:27. That is applicable to all people of all times. John 3:36 determines ones eternal position. The millennium is not a springboard unto salvation, but a demonstration of righteous government under the rulership of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. He will rule with a rod of iron. Gods law, The wages of sin is death, will be implemented. The first part of Revelation 20 speaks of those who are saved during the Great Tribulation. They shall reign with him a thousand years. The other group will stand before the Great White Throne, not facing Jesus or the Lamb of God, but before God. The opportunity for salvation is no longer, only condemnation based on each man according to their works. The end? And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (verse 15).

In the Greek Bible, I read that the name of the mother of Jesus is Mariam (Mapiar) and not Mary (Luke 1:27, 30, 34, 39, 46, 56; 2:4-5; Matthew 1:16, 18; 2:11; 13:55; Mark 6:3). The name of her sister, the wife of Cleophas or Alphaeus is Mapia, in English Mary and her son James. So we have two different names, Mariam Jesus mother and MariaMary her sister. In Exodus 15:20, the name of the sister of Moses and Aaron in English is Miriam, but in Greek MapiarMariam. I am sure the readers will be happy to know that in the family of Jesus mother were two sisters, Mariam and MariaMary.

Answer: The reason for the various versions of names is due to languages. For example, the country we call Germany is in reality Deutschland. Names, places, rivers, mountains, lakes, etc. are changed so people may read, pronounce and understand them in their own language. Take Polish, for example. Some names are impossible to pronounce in English, but quite simple in Polish. Miriam, in English Mary, is really Miryam in Hebrew. Not surprisingly, at Pentecost, the audience composed of about 16 different nationalities heard the message in their respective language. That was a prophetic demonstration that the gospel of salvation is available to the entire world. MC
