EMBA Following a Memorandum of Understanding between Denmark and Chengdu Government, the Nordic International Management Institute (NIMI) was successfully established in Chengdu, Sichuan in 2011. NIMI's mission is to be the most glocal, innovative and respected business institute in the world by making efforts to enable its students and clients to achieve competitive and sustainable advantage. These efforts take shape in NIMI's course offerings which are both customized and innovative including: PhD for Executives, specialized EMBAs by topic area and target focus, customized corporate programs for business both multinational and domestic as well as regular monthly open programs and forums.

The NIMI - Nyenrode PhD for Executives Program is for experienced professionals who wish to broaden their academic background and to make a lasting contribution to their own organization and profession. It enables participants to deepen their knowledge under the supervision of world class professors. Yet it is specifically designed to accommodate the constraints faced by busy senior executives. The greatest obstacle to successful completion of a PhD degree has always been the demand for original contributions resulting in a successfully defended dissertation. The NIMI - Nyenrode PhD addresses this problem directly by adding a mentoring professor who accompanies a candidate through the program process. This mentor is selected based on expertise within a candidate' s particular research area. Nyenrode University as a business school and as a PhD granting institution is well-respected and highly ranked globally. Our first program commenced in May 2012. 18 candidates from 12 countries will hopefully achieve their doctorate within 4 years.

The experience and quality of our international faculty are a key component of the NIMI brand. Almost all have been permanent or visiting faculty at leading business schools in China, including SJTU, CEIBS, Fudan in Shanghai; Tsinghua, Cheung Kong in Beijing; HKUST and CUHK in Hong Kong. Our faculty consists of core faculty and visiting. Our professors are also affiliated with leading educational institutions in Europe and USA including INSEAD, IMD, UC Berkeley, Nyenrode, Copenhagen Business School and Harvard.

Executives will usually be expected to complete their PhDs within four years after commencement. Extensions may be possible in consultation with Nyenrode and NIMI subject to the completion of other requirements.

Candidates should have a Masters degree. Consideration will also be given to candidates whose formal educational qualifications might not fully meet the traditional requirements.
