HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 31-33; Matthew 9:20-38 Monday, January 13 Hos. 13:5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought. Heavenly Father: I am asking that __________ and __________ might know you! That there might be a revival among my circle of friends, even while they wander in their desert lands. Use the implement of your Spirit to convict them, and the power of your word to convert them. Guide them to our services this Sunday. Keep them safe until they are safely in Christ. Confound now their proud selfjustifications. Lead them to the Savors wounded side, bleeding for them. Lord, I am convinced the enemy is often demonic and Satanically-inspired in his resistance. He uses my own unsoberness against me! He knows when I am weak and strikes at the most inopportune moment. In that case, no weapons formed by human ingenuity will work. I need your Spirit to go with me and guide my words of witness. Make them strike home to the heart of __________. Sweep righteousness before your truth. Bring relief and security to my friends in their wilderness and land of great drought. Give them so much freedom that it extends to their liberty to choose Jesus Christ as their Savior. The Devil does not want this. At all costs he will not allow this. I thank you for drawing me out of my own shell of security to pray for this! I intercede right now, as a believer and as part of a mighty army of believers, that you would save __________, and bring salvation to others through their acceptance of you. You know what a fire it would spark if only that key person would get saved! I need you to do this now. I need you to do this in spite of insurgent and terrorist opposition. I need you to do thislet me not trust in human wisdom, but in the guidance of your Spirit. Send a definite storm of grace, for I know that Jesus wounds plead for it. Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 34-36; Matthew 10:1-21 Tuesday, January 14 Luke 17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Help Me, Lord! Formerly a leper, he did not feel in the right spot until he was lying at your feet. Give me such humility in thankfulness. I would rather be a despised Samaritan at Christs feet than some esteemed person anyplace else. Why do I get so hung-up on this idea of defending my sense of honor? There is no place as honorable as at the feet of Jesus. Oh, to lie there and love him and let self die out! Oh, to have Christ standing over me as the one, overshadowing figure of my life. Give me true thankfulness that lies low before you, Lord. When you asked this man, Where are the nine? (meaning, the nine others you just healed), he did not reply and judge them. I have enough to do to mind my own business after I experience your grace in my heart. If I can only fulfill my own service of praise, I have no reason to pay attention to anybody else. Help me be occupied with my own personal adoration of you. I love the preaching and teaching. I love this church. I love Sundays. I love the Lords Supper. I love when we have baptisms. But I love Jesus the most. Lord, let my heart never rest until I can glorify you personally. Praise is a great teacher. Prayer and praise are the two oars that power my life into the deep waters of the knowledge of Christ. Prayer is the stalk of the corn, but praise is the ear. I know youre pleased to see the stalk of prayer grow up, but let me not stop short of the harvest of praise. Help me put praise in a high place, because that in turn sets Jesus in his rightful place in my heart. Help me by your Spirit today. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 43-45; Matthew 12:1-25 Friday, January 17 Deut. 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. Great Captain of the Host: Look on those of your servants who are more than usually tried at this winter New Year time, who because of bodily weakness and severe stress especially need encouragement this week. Put under us the everlasting arms. Let us all be refreshed this season. Let those who are languishing in the hospitals be brought out. Let it be said of us as of Israel leaving Egypt, Psa. 105:37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. May the weakest among us be like David, and the Davids among us be like the Angel of the LORD. We ask this high favor from our great King and glorious Redeemer. Deny us not, for we want to be resourced for Gods eternal purpose. Give victory to the likeminded churches all over the world. Look down on the lost and see how their gods stand impotent on their thrones. Cast them down, O Christ; conquer hearts! Cast down all powers of darkness until your name is exalted among the nations (and especially those where we have sent missionaries). The harlot of Babylon still sits on her seven hills, and multitudes wander after her. End her power in those regions she controls so Christ can truly reign. Lord grant it according to your own merciful grace! Sometimes we feel half staggered by this prayer, because our own urban center is so dark. The gospel is preached on Sunday, yet men and women make love to sin on Monday. Gather to yourself the many you still have in our city. Use us to gather them out for the harvest! Make us wise and willing laborers in the fields this week. Give us souls on Sunday for Jesus sake. Amen. Jacob. O God of Jacob: You are due my highest praise. Your acts of love speak louder than my words of gratitude. Do not let me suffer from lack of enthusiasm in praise! I should Sing aloud, because I am a debtor. Help my voice express my thankfulness. You delivered me out of Egypt. You sustained me in the wilderness. You are preserving me from my foes in Canaan. I should give honor to those I trust, so let me give honor first of all to you. The joyful shout is way too little. If I am slack in praise or silent in thanksgiving I am sinning. Give me full bursts of praise! The gods of the lost can be worshipped well-enough with classical or contemporary music, but you Lord can only be adored from the heart. The best music for your service is that which gives heart-priority, and gets my whole soul into praise. You do not want me to serve with misery, but with music. I owe all to you. By the power of your Spirit, help me cast every false god out of my heart. You proved your good will on the cross. You have proven your power in the resurrection of Jesus. Now it remains only for me to believe, and to ask things in faith, and in keeping with your will and your ability to respond as a great king. My expectations can never exceed your ability. Psa. 81:10 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. I believe you can do great things for an obedient people. Help me walk in faith, maintaining uncompromised fellowship and communion through prayer. Then let me praise you, because I really am already so blessed. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 37-39; Matthew 10:22-42 Wednesday, January 15 Ezek. 36:37 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. Living Lord and Our Loving Savior: Will this year be our breakout year? Will you increase our revival so it increases our flock? Please, Sir! Prayer is the prelude to mercy. Almost never does a great mercy come unheralded by supplication. We have to pray. We must pray for souls, and pray for our own revival in spirit! You give me many unsolicited favors Lord, but great prayer is always the forerunner to great mercies from you. Make me a great pray-er this week. When I got saved, it was because I prayed. When you removed the doubts about my salvation, it was because I prayed. Any time you have given me joy, I have seen it as answer to prayer. When I get great deliverances out of serious trouble, and receive mighty help in great danger, it is because Psa. 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. When I have the opportunity to witness it is because you open the door in answer to my prayer. And now I know, whenever I see someone else get saved it is because I (or someone) was praying for them. Prayer is the preface to blessing. When the sunlight of your mercy rises on my necessity, it casts a shadow of prayer before it. Put a shadow of prayer on my spirit this week! Then I can rest in the knowledge that if I am much in prayer, my pleading is the prelude to your mercy. It makes me know the value of your blessing. The main thing I ask you for is precious: more souls! Supply us for Jesus sake. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 46-48; Matthew 12:26-50 Saturday, January 18 Psa. 81:1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 40-42; Matthew 11 Thursday, January 16 Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

MY Fathers way may twist and turn, my heart may throb and ache.
But in my soul Im glad I know, He maketh no mistake. My cherished plans may go astray, my hopes may fade away, But still Ill trust my Lord to lead, for He doth know the way. Thonight be dark and it may seem that day will never break; Ill pin my faith, my all in Him, He maketh no mistake. Theres so much now I cannot see, my eyesights far too dim; But come what may, Ill simply trust and leave it all to Him. For by and by the mist will lift and plain it all Hell make. Through all the way, thodark to me, He made not one mistake. A.M. Overton, 1932

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS " PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
