Target Skill: Authors Purpose End of Quarter & AR The authors purpose is the reason or reasons that the author wrote the Friday, Jan. 17th: Teacher Workdaybook. Usually the author has a message to share, which is the big idea or NO SCHOOL lesson. Authors will write to entertain, inform, describe or express, and th Monday, Jan. 20 : MLK Day NO SCHOOL persuade. Understanding the authors purpose helps the reader to better rd understand the story. Please read in your textbook at least once and study Thursday, Jan.23 : Report Cards go home th Friday, Jan. 24 : Authors Spotlight 8:30 the vocabulary cards for the test on Thursday. Read every night and fill Jan. 30th:Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night- Third grade in the Reading Log. Return with Parent Signature DAILY! teachers serve!!!!

This week, we will begin our Famous Americans Research Report. Students will choose a famous American and being the research process. In addition, we will be focusing on subject-verb agreement. There will be a quiz on Friday.

Math: Multiplication

This week we will learn our last 2 sets of multiplication facts. We will be learning the 8s and the 12s. Next week we will review all facts and have the Multiplication Part 2 test on Friday, Jan. 24 th.

Science:

Earths Processes How do we use Earths materials like coal, oil, vermiculite, and marble? What are the slow and rapid processes of the Earth? We will be answer these questions as continue through our unit. The next quiz in this unit will be on Tuesday, January 21st. It will cover slow & rapid processes (landslides, erosion, weathering, floods). The unit test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 24th. Notes from the Teacher * Thank you so much for sending in supplies! We will most definitely put these items to good use. Remember that I am expecting all Reading Logs to be signed by a parent each day. The Test Folders should be returned the next day with a parent signature. The Childrens behavior calendars should be signed at the beginning of the week. I am checking these items daily. Thank you for helping your child learn responsibility.
