Ever since the early 19th century, Pictet & Cie has been one of the mainstays of Geneva as a nancial centre. As such, the history of the Bank is closely linked to the city. Management Structure Throughout its 200-year history, Pictet has retained its corporate structure as a private partnership. Founded as a partnership in Geneva in 1805, the group is still owned and managed by eight managing partners. Pictet specialises in Private Banking and Asset Management, operating as either a bank or asset manager. The group is made up of 25 entities and representative ofces, both in Switzerland and abroad. This unique corporate structure means that the eight partners, who combine ownership and management of the Bank, not only provide Pictets capital but also pledge their entire personal assets against the banks liabilities. Pictet & Cie has always considered this legal structure the one best suited to its activities, and it has not prevented the bank from growing into an international group with ofces or entities in 19 major nancial centres around the world. Services Offered Since its foundation, the bank offers its services and expertise exclusively for private and institutional investors. Pictet & Cie is not active in investment banking or commercial, mortgage or unsecured loans.

After graduating from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology with a degree in applied mathematics and computer science in 1975, Jacques de Saussure attended MITs Sloan School of Management from where he received a masters degree in 1978. He then joined Intersec Research, a New York based pension and asset management consulting rm. In 1980 Jacques de Saussure began his career at Pictet & Cie.

The bank offers the nancial expertise of its analysts and economic strategists in the form of nancial reports or analyses on investment policy or markets and companies. In addition, Pictet organises seminars and presentations gathering asset managers, investment specialists and economists in order to share and discuss forecasts, new products and regulations. Pictet & Cie trades at the SWX Swiss Exchange and the EUREX, as well as various North American stock exchanges and networks. Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) During the 1990s, Pictet & Cie began focusing on socially responsible investment. Today, the bank cooperates with Ethos, Swiss Foundation for Sustainable Development. Pictets sustainable philosophy is based on the 1987 UN report Our Common Future. Together they offer solutions for institutional clients who wish to invest according to social responsibility with regard to social, environmental and governance issues. Investors may choose between different environmental themes or sectors, such as clean energy or water. In addition to offering investment solutions in sustainable projects, Pictet & Cie assesses its clients own nancial sustainability.
