    On Monday January 13, 2014 the Albany County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of three separate vandalism complaints involving graffiti in the Town of New Scotland and the Village of Voorheesville. All three acts of vandalism appeared to be related as all three involved similar graffiti images containing sexually explicit and bias wording.

    OnMondayJanuary13,2014theAlbanyCountySheriffsOfficerespondedtoreportsofthree separatevandalismcomplaintsinvolvinggraffitiintheTownofNewScotlandandtheVillageof Voorheesville.Allthreeactsofvandalismappearedtoberelatedasallthreeinvolvedsimilargraffiti imagescontainingsexuallyexplicitandbiaswording.Thefirstreportofcriminalmischiefcameinat 6:50a.m.fromtheVoorheesvilleHighSchoolwhereindividualshadspraypaintedboththeexterior oftheschoolbuildingandtheschoolsignwithwordsandimagesofacat.Thesecondincidentwas reportedat7:29a.m.ataprivateresidenceintheTownofNewScotlandwhereanemployeeofthe VoorheesvilleHighSchoolresides.Theemployeespersonalvehiclewasspraypaintedwithsimilar graffitiinvolvingwords,catimagesandgraphicdrawings.Thethirdreportcameinat7:40a.m.and wasreportedattheVoorheesvillePublicLibrary.Again,similargraffitiwasspraypaintedonand aroundtheexteriorofthelibrarywhichincludedcatimages,aswastikaandgraphiclanguage.Inall, thedamagecausedwasestimatedatover$8000.00. OnTuesdayJanuary14,2014,afterdevelopinginformationlinkingthetwodefendantstothe crimesviasimilarphotosandwordingpostedonsocialmediasites,membersoftheAlbanyCounty SheriffsOfficeCriminalInvestigationUnitarrestedMatthewL.CareyMoorly(19)andMannyA. Wiest(18),bothTownofGuilderlandresidentschargingthemwithCriminalMischiefinthe2nd degree,aclassDfelony,CriminalMischief3rddegree,aclassEfelony,AggravatedHarassmentin the1stdegree,aclassEfelonyandMakingGraffiti,aclassAMisdemeanor.Additionally,Matthew L.CareyMorleywaschargedwithCriminalPossessionofaForgedInstrumentinthe2nddegree,a ClassDfelony,forpossessingaforgedColoradoDriversLicense. BothindividualswerearraignedintheTownofNewScotlandCourtbytheHonorableJudge DavidWukitschontheabovelistedchargesandwerereleasedundersupervisionofprobation.
